1. Armada Fair — August 18–23
The fair is already underway, with a wonderfully chaotic schedule: monster trucks Tuesday, demolition derby Wednesday, Bump & Run Thursday, rodeo Friday, tractor and truck pulls over the weekend, plus carnival rides, animals and fair food.
2. Megan Moroney — Tuesday, August 18
Megan Moroney brings her Cloud 9 Tour to Little Caesars Arena at 7 p.m. This is probably Tuesday’s biggest mainstream entertainment draw.
3. Assumption GreekFest — August 21–23
This is a fabulous Metro Detroit pick: Greek food and pastries, live music, dancing, marketplace shopping, church tours, children’s activities and a 21+ taverna in St. Clair Shores.

* Sunday: noon–7 p.m.
4. My Chemical Romance + Iggy Pop — Friday, August 21
This pairing feels extremely Detroit. My Chemical Romance performs The Black Parade at Comerica Park with hometown icon Iggy Pop opening. Show begins at 8 p.m. Definitely one of the week’s splashiest headlines.
5. Little Shop of Horrors 40th Anniversary — Friday, August 21
A screening of the cult-classic film at the Fisher Theatre—with the original Audrey, Ellen Greene, appearing in person. It starts at 7 p.m. and offers a fun alternative for people who aren’t looking for a giant concert.
6. Michigan Renaissance Festival Opening Weekend — August 22–23
Huzzah! The Renaissance Festival opens for its 2026 season in Holly from 9 a.m.–7 p.m., rain or shine. Opening weekend’s theme is Pirates and Pups, with artisans, food, costumed performers and jousting at 1, 3 and 5 p.m.
7. Outlaw Music Festival — Saturday, August 22
Willie Nelson & Family headline at Pine K**b with The Avett Brothers, Lukas Nelson, Stephen Wilson Jr., Sierra Hull, and Don Was & the Pan-Detroit Ensemble. Music begins at 3:20 p.m.—a strong all-afternoon-and-evening option.
8. Island Time Paw-ty — Saturday, August 22
A free tropical-themed dog party at Grand Circus Park from 2–4 p.m., featuring lawn games, pet booths, giveaways and island-style entertainment. Bruce would obviously expect editorial approval of this selection. 🐾
9. Detroit Bourbon & Blues Festival — Sunday, August 23
Shed 5 at Eastern Market hosts bourbon and whiskey tastings with live blues from noon–7 p.m. Tickets begin around $45.
10. TLC, Salt-N-Pepa + En Vogue — Sunday, August 23
Okay, this lineup is pure Andrea-era nostalgia: TLC and Salt-N-Pepa bring the It’s Iconic Tour to Pine K**b with En Vogue at 7:30 p.m.
