Catch this cool doco during W.C. Handy Music Festival! “Mr. Handy's Blues” (2016) is a documentary film about W.C. Handy, the "Father of the Blues," chronicling his life from a preacher's son in Alabama to a celebrated composer and music publisher. Directed by Joanne Fish, the film uses archival footage, photos, and interviews with artists like Taj Mahal and Bobby Rush to tell his story, highlighting his struggles with racism and family conflict, and his success with iconic songs like "St. Louis Blues”.

Our Songbirds songwriter session last Saturday night was great! So cool to see such an appreciative crowd and so many familiar faces - thank you for turning up and making the night a great success!

The Songbirds songwriter sessions were initiated by Lucie Tiger in 2020 in Sydney just before Covid changed the world. Lucie’s the creative force behind the Songbird sessions and it’s her way of giving back to the local music community. She’s always always been keen to give other songwriters a hand up, especially women and emerging songwriters plus she always makes sure that songwriters are paid for their performances.
