As the mother of the groom, it can be easy to feel like you need to create an impressive event. You don’t.

Start with the budget you’re actually comfortable with, then build the evening around what matters most: good food, meaningful conversation, and time together.

A backyard, simple meal, smaller guest list, or personal touches can make the evening just as memorable without stretching your finances.

The goal isn’t to impress everyone.

It’s to celebrate your son, his future bride, and the people who mean the most to them.

Your son's wedding day may have a moment you would really love to share with him. Before the wedding, talk to him about it. Tell him what you're hoping for and ask what he thinks.

And be prepared for him or his bride to have a different idea.

That doesn't mean your feelings aren't important. It simply means this is their wedding day, and the goal is to find a moment that feels comfortable and meaningful for everyone.

Maybe the answer is yes. Maybe they suggest something different. Maybe they aren't comfortable with it at all.

If that happens, respect their wishes without making them feel guilty. You can be disappointed and still be gracious.

The most meaningful Mother of the Groom moments aren't the ones we force. They're the ones we make room for together. ❤️
