On March 2nd, I landed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on a brief trip to be a part of Spring Training with the New York Mets and Team Israel Baseball before the upcoming World Baseball Classic.

The two hour drive to West Palm Beach gave me a chance to reflect on my favorite Mets moments, as it has been my dream to attend Mets Spring Training in Port St. Lucie since I was a kid. The last time I attended Spring Training was for my 12th birthday, and I quickly became the coolest 7th grader for missing a week of class to watch baseball in Florida.

Ilia Malinin, the self-proclaimed “Quad God,” was the heavy Olympic gold favorite heading into the men’s figure skating event on February 13th.

With a fabled quad axel jump, backflips, and a record-breaking seven quad jump layout, he was expected to win.

Watching Malinin would be “like watching the moon landing,” according to an NBC 5 Chicago headline.

However, those expectations came crashing down during Malinin’s upsetting performance.

With the fifth-best record in the NBA Eastern Conference as of March 15th, 2026 at 43-25, the New York Knicks have established themselves as a true contender this season. What sets the 2025-26 team apart from last year and gives fans real hope of heading to the finals is the team’s depth.

For Allycia Santa-Cruz, a junior on Queens College’s Women’s Tennis team, her commute is the first challenge as a college athlete and can be described in one word: terrible. “I take the Q88 from the terminal, and it doesn't matter what time I take it at, there's always a long line. On freezing days, it's even better. While it should take 30-40 minutes, it takes me 1-1.5 hours.”

Being a student athlete requires dedication and commitment to academics as well as athletics. For QC, a commuter school with a student population as diverse as the sports teams it offers — baseball, tennis, softball, volleyball and more — the QC Knights are no stranger to the trials of student athletics.

In an era where many streetwear brands constantly chase the latest trends and rapidly release clothing pieces, Awake NY seeks to promote something deeper.

Awake NY continues to ground its collections in culture, community and the visual language of New York City. The brand’s upcoming Spring/Summer 2026 collection reflects that approach; blending streetwear staples with artistic collaborations and subtle previews of future releases.

Founded by Angelo Baque, the former brand director of Supreme, Awake NY has gradually built a reputation for merging fashion with the cultural pulse of the city.

“IT: Welcome to Derry” (2025) opens with a tune from the 1962 musical, “The Music Man” – “Ya Got Trouble" – to let the viewers know exactly what’s in store.

The show serves as a prequel to Andrés Muschietti’s “IT” movies – released in 2017 and 2019 – which adapt Stephen King’s novel of the same name. Taking place in 1962, twenty-seven years before the television miniseries, the viewers are given a new cast, new scares, and new insights into the origins of Derry, Maine, the fictional town where the horror unfolds.

The Intersection of Media and Information Science 🎞️📂

Queens College’s Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences (GSLIS), in collaboration with the Media Studies department, has launched a new MLS/MA dual-degree program. This 54-credit, three-year track enables students to earn two master’s degrees simultaneously while developing expertise in the preservation and management of digital and cinematic materials.

Soho Jung, Multimedia Manager at The Knight News, interviewed Professor Emily Drabinski and Professor Jonathan Thayer from GSLIS to explore a range of topics, including the motivations behind the program’s creation, its academic structure and advising model, and the role of internships and industry partnerships.

The conversation also highlighted the unique advantages of combining Library Science with Media Studies, as well as career pathways for graduates and how the curriculum adapts to rapid changes in digital preservation and media technologies.
