7 Years of Funkin’ Soul 🎶✨It’s hard to believe it’s been 7 years since Funkin’ Soul first came to life. What started as a Tuesday night groove turned into one of the most meaningful chapters of my DJ journey. Every week at Downtown Cocktail Room, I had the privilege of sharing eclectic house, funk, and soul with a room full of friends, fellow music lovers, and kindred spirits.Though the party came to a close in November 2024, the memories, the music, and the love we poured into that night are still very much alive in me. Funkin’ Soul wasn’t just a gig — it was a gathering. A space where DJs, dancers, bartenders, and believers in the beat came together and built something special, week after week.I’m so grateful for every single person who pulled up, vibed out, and supported the vision. Thank you to my music family, my real-life family, the incredible staff, and the crew of DJs who held me down and lifted me up. It meant everything to be part of something so soulful, so funky, and so full of love.Here’s to the rhythm that still echoes, the community that still inspires, and the memories that will never fade. Happy 7th Anniversary, Funkin’ Soul. 💛🖤

Funkin’ Soul was the Downtown Cocktail Room’s long-running weekly party, hosted every Tuesday by DJ erinblackirish. The vibe? Unpretentious and groovy, with a cozy crowd swaying to deep house and funk grooves in the venue’s signature moody, red‑lit lounge atmosphere ().

For years, Funkin’ Soul held court in that backroom sanctuary—half speakeasy, half soulful sanctuary—where familiar retro‑soul tracks were spun alongside deep house cuts, all while keeping the community of locals close-knit and connected. It was Tuesday night therapy: no cover charge, no VIP barriers, just good music, cocktails, and community. The party embodied the bar’s ethos—intimate, playlist‑driven, and rooted in old‑school house culture.

When Downtown Cocktail Room closed in November 2024 after a remarkable 17‑year run (first opening in 2007), it marked the final chapter not only for the iconic red‑walled lounge but also for Funkin’ Soul. The much‑loved weekly gathering ended alongside the venue it called home—a bittersweet farewell to one of Fremont East’s most cherished arts‑and‑culture touchpoints .

In essence, Funkin’ Soul was more than a DJ night—it was the heartbeat of an evolving downtown Las Vegas, a neo‑retro ritual of soulful house music, warmth, and local spirit that concluded just as the Cocktail Room did in late 2024.
