Flashback Friday: Kid Edition

We’re sitting at a very long red light next to a big rig. I notice the driver laughing… Turn around…

And there’s my son with underwear pulled over his entire head like a full‑face helmet.

The trucker gave him a thumbs‑up.

I spent the rest of the day questioning my life choices. Kids really do bring joy in the weirdest of ways!

What’s the craziest thing your kids have ever done or said in public?! l’d love to hear them! You know, for solidarity… 😆😅

Sometimes the best therapy isn’t found in words — it’s found in the rhythm of your steps and the hush of the trees.

Out here, the world slows down.
My thoughts untangle.
The noise fades.

And I remember that nature moves slowly on purpose — teaching me to match her pace.

Each trail reminds me:

✨ Overthinking loses its grip when the sky gets big.

✨ My mind stops sprinting when I’m surrounded by things that don’t hurry.

✨ The trees don’t worry about tomorrow — and neither should I.

If you could relive one moment in your life, which one would you choose? Share yours in the comments — I’d love to read them.

If I could go back to one moment, I think I’d choose my wedding day.

A day I didn’t think I could possibly love him more than I did right then… and yet, somehow, our love was only just beginning.

Through years of parenting, growing, losing, winning, laughing, surviving long sports seasons, and quiet nights on the couch… my love for him has multiplied in ways that girl in the white dress couldn’t have imagined.

Some days choosing yourself looks like slowing down before you break down. My alarm went off before 4am to get to the airport, and nothing was going “simple” for me once I got there. Not big dramatic problems — just a pile of small ones that hit harder when you’re already running on fumes. By the time I finally sat down on the plane to head home, it was all I could do to hold back the tears.

So I gave myself a minute. I prayed. I watched a few videos from our trip. I put in my headphones and let the music settle my breathing. I let myself recalibrate instead of powering through.

Choosing yourself doesn’t always look brave or pretty. Sometimes it’s just giving your nervous system a chance to come back to you.

If you needed this today, you’re not alone. Give yourself one small moment to recalibrate. Your body will thank you. 🤍

Flashback Friday: Kid Edition

Age 4 vocabulary is a wild ride.

She burped…
But proudly announced, “I tooted in my mouth.”

I’m still laughing.

There are days when autoimmune disease makes me feel small — slower, softer, not quite myself. Days when the climb feels bigger than my body can hold.

But then there are days where I do it anyway.
Exhausted.
In pain.
Emotional.
Anxious.
Still moving.

Sometimes stepping past the limits of my “new normal” is when I catch a glimpse of the joy I thought I’d lost… even when my body feels heavy, unpredictable, or unfamiliar.

If you’re walking your own invisible battle, I hope you see this and think:

If she can keep going, maybe I can, too.

El Capitan in all its mighty, impossible beauty — and then you zoom in and realize those tiny dots are actual humans climbing it. And some even do it with NO ropes. This mountain is full of granite verticals — 3000 ft from the valley floor — my brain still can’t compute.

Some views make you feel small in the best way. This one made me stop, stare, zoom in, zoom out, and then just stand there in total awe.

Noise off. Nature on. Letting Yosemite set the pace while I chase the light.
