🎙️Last TorchTales episode of the year is 🔥

Saturday 12/27/25

https://youtube.com/?si=fkCHgCOqOwbWYenE

I grabbed the camera. I walked straight into Underground Metal Works in Orlando and toured the school the same way a new student would.

I asked some real questions and some stupid questions too.

What do you actually learn here?
What makes this school different?
And why should someone serious thinking about welding choose THIS place?

I sat down with Jason Becker, (NOPE SORRY) We stood up and talked about how the school started, how it’s run, and what kind of welders should come here.

If you’re thinking about welding as a career, as a hobby or already in it, or just want to see it from the inside, this episode is for you.

👉 Watch it. Learn something. Share it with someone who needs direction.

And remember—every spark has a story. 🔥

Conversation #90 Saturday 2/13/25

Sharon Guerrero, better known as Miss.Welds, (misswelds) a welder whose skill, personality, and work ethic have built her a strong presence both in the shop and online. She’s one of those creators who didn’t just pick up a torch—she built a platform, a community, and a career that shows what happens when talent meets.

She breaks down how it all started—that moment when welding first caught her attention. Sharon talks about the early days, the challenges she faced stepping into the trade, and what kept her pushing forward when most people would’ve walked away.

Sharon explains what sparked it for her, the curiosity about working with her hands.

The satisfaction of building something real

The feeling of empowerment that came from learning a skill traditionally dominated by men

Sharon has built a strong following on Instagram and ticktock with millions of views with the MissWelds brand. How social media opened doors

The responsibility that comes with having young welders watch her every move.

And how to keep things real when the internet isn’t always real

Her take is refreshing. She doesn’t chase trends—she showcases her craft. That authenticity is why her followers trust her.

#89 " Im super Spooky" with Jade Sites aka

Saturday 12/6/25

Episode 89 brings me to Ocala, Florida, where I had the chance to sit down in the home of Jade Sites, known on Instagram as . She’s a welder, fabricator, and artist with one of the most authentic backgrounds you’ll hear on this show.

Jade grew up in the woods of Virginia. She moved down to Florida, welding found her. Or maybe she found it. Either way, it became her outlet and her path.

From fabrication to artistic pieces, Jade built her skills and built her name. Today, The RusticWelder is known for her rugged handmade style, her clean fabrication work, and the way she blends art with blue-collar grit.

In this episode we talked about:

The transition from welder to fabricator to full-blown metal artist

How RusticWelder became her identity and her brand

The challenges and wins of being a woman in a male-dominated trade

What she wants to create next—and where she sees her work going

Sitting down with Jade in her own space, surrounded by her work and her world, you feel the honesty immediately. She’s not trying to impress anyone. She’s just being herself—building, welding, creating, and carving out her place in this industry.

Episode 89 is a reminder that the welding world isn’t built in classrooms or shops alone. Sometimes it starts in the woods. Sometimes it starts with a spark.

Every spark has a story—and this one belongs to Jade Sites.

This episode is dedicated to Amber Czech, a young welder whose life was taken far too soon.

I didn’t know her personally, but as a father of two daughters, her story hits hard. It forces you to think about the reality women face when they step into a trade that wasn’t built with them in mind.

This isn’t just about statistics or workforce percentages—this is about real people, real lives, and the responsibility we have as an industry to make sure every woman who chooses this path is respected, supported, and safe.

I want to acknowledge some women in the industry which I admire and some call friends for pushing the boundaries and making a difference. Alisyn Palla Athena Alexander Stephanie Hoffman Sarah Stork Barbie Parsons Rae Ripple Weld Like A Girl™️ Shanen Aranmor, MS, CWI/CWE Jade Sites shana schreiber , Staci Sour Martinez, Thaleia Castillo , Sharon Guerrero, Rachel Lee and many other countless amazing women in the trades. YOU all make a difference.

Why Every Company Should Attend SkillsUSA

Every year, SkillsUSA brings together some of the most talented and motivated young people across every trade imaginable — welding, metal arts, HVAC, electrical, automotive, construction, you name it. Walking through that floor, you don’t just see competitions; you see passion, dedication, and craftsmanship at its rawest form.

For anyone in our industry — companies, distributors, recruiters, or business owners — SkillsUSA is where the future of the trades lives. These students are the next generation of welders, fabricators, technicians, and problem solvers who will keep our industries alive and thriving.

If you’ve ever said, “We can’t find skilled workers anymore,” then this is where you need to be looking. SkillsUSA is full of future employees who already understand what hard work, precision, and pride in their craft mean. You’ll see teenagers running multi-process welders, CNC tables, plasma systems, and automation setups like seasoned pros — not because someone told them to, but because they love it.

The truth is, the trades are cool again — and these young competitors are proving it. They’re driven, creative, and eager to learn. All they need are the right opportunities, the right mentors, and the right companies willing to invest in them.

What an honor to be in Lyon, France, attending the 2025 IOMA Annual Meeting — my second time joining this incredible gathering of industry leaders.

190 members representing more than 20 countries have come together to share insights, challenges, and opportunities shaping the industrial, manufacturing and specialty gas world.

It’s always inspiring to connect with some of the brightest minds driving innovation, sustainability, and collaboration in our field.

Grateful for the chance to learn, exchange ideas, and be part of such a strong global community.
