You know what I find absolutely hilarious? Some people call themselves fathers just because they helped create a child. Being a father is more than DNA.

Imagine not being there for your kids growing up, barely calling, only reaching out when you need something, ignoring your own daughters but making sure to comment on everyone else’s posts. Imagine your daughters growing up, starting families of their own, and you still choose not to be involved.

My son is 5 years old and my dad has only seen him a handful of times — mostly Christmas or birthdays. No phone calls asking how he’s doing. No effort. I call and get sent to voicemail. But somehow it’s okay to steal photos from our pages and post “my grandsons” like you’re active in their lives.

Then the same person makes sad statuses saying “my kids didn’t wish me Happy Birthday or Happy Father’s Day.” Why should we celebrate someone who never showed up for us when it mattered? Respect, love, and relationships go both ways.

Just because you have kids does NOT make you a father. Period. Point blank.

I remember watching Little house on the prairie with my grandma and I never realized until now that Mr. Olsen was really a good guy but had to do whatever his wife and daughter wanted.
