My attention has been drawn to the ignorant and misleading post by Yemi Otuedon, who hurried to social media to criticize Comrade Victor Ojei (Wong Box Nigeria) over a matter that is sub judice before Magistrate Court 1, Asaba.
Let it be known that ignorance of the law is not an excuse.
For clarity:
1. Section 23 of the Criminal Code and
2. Section 33(2)(a) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended)
guarantee the right of every Nigerian to defend his person, property, and premises from unlawful entry. Comrade Victor Ojei acted within his constitutional and statutory rights when BEDC staff trespassed on his property without consent, without a lawful disconnection notice, and in blatant violation of NERC regulations.
BEDC broke the law first, that is the conversation Yemi avoids.
The cutlass narrative being circulated by Edafe Bright and amplified by the gullible is nothing but a smokescreen, especially when cross-examination in court confirmed that Comrade Victor Ojei Popularly called Wong Box Nigeria never made physical contact with any BEDC staff.
Why is nobody talking about:
• Trespass? Are you not aware that BEDC staff entered his premises with ladder whereas the pole they wanted to disconnect was located outside his compound? The had no business going into his compound.
• The false claim that he owes “four-point-something million naira” with no proof?
• The deliberate attempt by Police authorities to settle the matter quietly while it was Comrade Victor Ojei who insisted on going to court to seek justice?
Yes, the same man they are painting black is the one who rejected every attempt to suppress the case.
Yemi claims BEDC officials were doing “legitimate work.” Which legitimacy?
Illegal entry is not legitimate.
False billing is not legitimate.
Selective police narratives are not legitimate.
SP Edafe Bright the Police PRO was not an eyewitness, even the Police IPO from A Division Asaba till date did not visit the scene of alleged crime till date, they never obtained an independent eye witness account of what transpired till date, the publication of SP Edafe Bright misled the public and misrepresented events captured on a video that did not show any assault, threat to life, or interaction with a pregnant woman.
This is why we say: to kill a dog, give it a bad name.
Comrade Victor Ojei stands on the law, even if it looks “weird” to those who do not understand the law.
At the end, the court, not social media analysts, will speak, and truth will vindicate him.
I am
Hon. Comrade Prince Ogbonna
Standing for truth.
Standing for justice.
