I yield my glory to no one else, nor my praise to any idol. Isaiah 42:8. HIS name is worn around my neck but dwells within my heart.

YOM KIPPOR - from sunset to sunset 4-5th October
Yom Kippur, which translates to the "Day of Atonement," is the holiest day of the year in Judaism. It is typically marked with 25 hours of fasting, worship, reflection, and abstention from normal daily activities such as working, driving, talking on the phone, watching tv and playing sports.

No shops will be open nor will there be any public transport.

We hope that all the students enjoy their day off but to request that you respect the day by playing no loud music, having parties etc.

Great share and thanks. Humans of JNF

Another "only in Israel"…

Across Israel today through next Sunday, you will see palm branches that have been cut down for residents to freely take in order to put on their sukkah for the festival of Sukkot.

The timing is also 100% accurate because the entire palm tree grows back all of it's branches in time for the next year at the same time.

The Marriage Covenant - The Goshen Gazette

Boker Tov!

By Lisa Hathaway From Genesis to Revelation, the scriptures are a beautiful love story, an epic tale about the love that YHVH, the Holy One of Israel, has for His people, Israel. We pick up the story at Mount Sinai, where YHVH established a marriage covenant with Israel, a people called out, separat...

We are so excited for the upcoming Sukkot. So we were curious and looked up and we found Sukkot in; (Leviticus 23:33-44 Genesis 33:17 Exodus 12:37 Exodus 13:20 Numbers 33:5 Deuteronomy 16:16 Joshua 13:27 Zechariah 14:18-19)so many scriptures but Christmas not mentioned once. Wow, wonder why is that?

Blessings to you and your family Marty Goetz for a Happy Healthy New Year! Thanks hanks for this great share.

‘L’Shanah Tova Tikateivu’ is a greeting that will be on the lips of Jewish people the world over, beginning this evening, September 25th, 2022. It means: ‘May you be inscribed for a good year,’ and the saying accompanies the observance of ‘Rosh HaShanah,’ the ‘Jewish New Year,’ celebrated on the 26th and 27th of September.

The expression is ‘shorthand’ for a hope that the person being greeted would be written in God’s ‘Book of Life.’ The rabbinical belief is that, on Rosh HaShanah, the LORD decides who will be written in HIS book for a blessed year ahead—and who will experience, well…something not so blessed. (What that all means is a mystery known only to God.) Ten days later, on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, that judgment is sealed—and it is final. (Gulp!)

For the next two days, synagogue services will be held—long synagogue services—ceremonial food will be eaten—(of course)— and the ‘shofar,’ a ram’s horn, will be sounded. A good time will be had by all, for this is a joyous holiday; a Happy New Year.

However, because of the solemn and weighty matters of the soul, implicit in this holiday, it is not ‘party time.’ Rather it it is a time of confession of sins; a time of reflection and repentance with the fervent prayer of being, in the year ahead, a better and more righteous person; a person worthy of being recorded in God’s Book for ‘good.’

Year by year, this delicate balance of revery and reverence is part of the individual and communal life of every Jewish person, past, present and future.

Truth be told, as I recall my upbringing in a Jewish household in Cleveland, Ohio, this tension was a bit unsettling, even during a ‘happy’ holiday.

This tension has been greatly and ETERNALLY eased by the discovery, through faith in Yeshua, the Messiah of Israel, that this understanding of ‘Rosh HaShanah’ is not ‘biblical,’ even though the traditions are many, varied and meaningful.

What we are really celebrating in this season is actually the ‘Feast of Trumpets.’

The sounding of the ‘shofar’ reminds us—yes, of God’s judgment of our lives—but, even more significantly, that the Lord will be returning to this earth to BE the judge of the whole world, as it is written:

“For the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the TRUMPET of God.” (I Thessalonians 4:16)

The first of Tishri—the date of Rosh HaShanah on the lunar-based Hebrew calendar, is actually NOT the biblical new year. The month of Nisan has that distinction.

Still—we who are believers in Yeshua HaMashiach can truly celebrate a ‘new year’ of life in Him—now and always.

None of us can be ‘righteous’ enough, repent enough or pray enough to merit being inscribed in God’s Book for eternal life. Yeshua—Jesus—HIMSELF has lived our life, died our death and has been raised to life eternal. Our sin has been judged in HIM and His resurrection proclaims that the verdict is final—and we are NOT GUILTY! He is at the right hand of Our Father in Heaven, awaiting the day when the ‘trumpet’—the shofar—will sound— and He will be King and judge—over all the earth.

And—if you have put your trust in Yeshua, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world—the final decree is this:

You have been inscribed in the ‘Book of Life’—FOREVER!

That’s something to celebrate…so…

L’Shanah Tova Tikateivu—
Happy New Year—INDEED!!
Much love and shalom to ‘all y’all!’

Marty, Jenny and Family

P.S. We pray you WILL put your trust in Yeshua and be inscribed in the LAMB’S Book of Life! See you Tuesday!
