🌟 NEW PARK ALERT: NORTHWEST COMMUNITY PARK IN FRISCO! 🌟

Special-needs families, SAVE THIS ONE! πŸ’™

Frisco is opening a brand-new 120-acre Northwest Community Park on September 19, and there are some really exciting features for children of ALL abilities!

πŸ“ Northwest Community Park
13770 Teel Parkway, Frisco, TX 75033

♿️ WHAT MAKES THIS PARK SPECIAL FOR OUR FAMILIES?

🎠 INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND DESIGN
The playground was designed around the idea that children of different abilities should be able to play together, not separately.

πŸ‘€ MULTI-SENSORY PLAY
The playground incorporates opportunities to engage all five senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch.

πŸŒ€ MOVEMENT PLAY
Children can choose from activities including:
β€’ Swinging
β€’ Spinning
β€’ Rocking
β€’ Balancing
β€’ Climbing
β€’ Sliding
β€’ Running
β€’ Pushing & pulling

🌈 RAINBOW STAIRS
A colorful feature incorporated into the playground design that provides another way to move, explore and engage.

πŸ’¦ WATER & SAND PLAY
The nature-play area includes water and sand, giving kids opportunities for tactile and sensory exploration.

🌳 NATURE PLAY
Wood logs, a grass hill and natural elements are incorporated into the play environment.

πŸ› BIG SLIDE + CLIMBING WALLS
For kids who LOVE movement and physical challenges, the motion-play area provides opportunities to climb and slide.

🧸 SHADED AREAS
There are shaded sitting areas throughout the playground, giving families a place to take a break when a child needs a reset.

πŸ’¦ SPLASH PAD
Because apparently Texas parents needed another reason to pack ALL THE THINGS. πŸ˜‚

🚲 TRAILS & OPEN SPACE
The park includes miles of trails, gardens, plazas and restored Blackland Prairie, giving families options beyond the playground.

❀️ WHY WE LOVE THIS FOR OUR SPECIAL-NEEDS COMMUNITY

Inclusive doesn't just mean putting an accessible ramp next to a playground.

Good inclusive design gives children multiple ways to participate, whether they are seeking sensory input, needing movement, using mobility equipment, communicating differently, or simply wanting to play alongside their friends.

And THAT is what makes this park worth putting on your radar.

πŸ“… GRAND OPENING: SEPTEMBER 19, 2026
⏰ 8:00–10:00 AM

✨ LABOR DAY WEEKEND PROJECT: DIY SENSORY GLITTER BOTTLES! ✨

Looking for an easy, inexpensive activity to do with the kids this Labor Day weekend? Make a sensory glitter bottle! 🌈✨

These little bottles are more than just pretty to look at. They can be used as a calming tool and give children something visual to focus on when they are feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, overstimulated, or need a quiet moment. Sensory bottles can support self-regulation, visual attention, and mindful breathing.

πŸ›’ WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
β€’ Clear, sturdy plastic bottle with a secure lid
β€’ Warm water
β€’ Clear school glue or glitter glue
β€’ Glitter ✨
β€’ Food coloring (optional)
β€’ Funnel (optional)
β€’ Hot glue or super glue for sealing the lid

*There is even a kit on Amazon* (https://amzn.to/46H6r2J)

🎨 HOW TO MAKE IT:

1️⃣ Clean your bottle and remove the label.

2️⃣ Fill the bottle about ΒΎ full with warm water.

3️⃣ Add clear or glitter glue. The more glue you add, the slower the glitter will fall.

4️⃣ Add glitter! Try mixing fine and chunky glitter for different visual effects.

5️⃣ Add a drop or two of food coloring if you want some color.

6️⃣ Secure the lid and SHAKE! Watch the glitter swirl and slowly settle.

7️⃣ Adjust the consistency if needed. Add more glue to slow it down or more water to make it move faster.

8️⃣ Once you love it, an adult should permanently seal the lid with hot glue or super glue.

🧠 WHY MAKE ONE?

✨ Provides a calming visual activity
✨ Encourages children to slow down and focus
✨ Can be incorporated into a calm-down or coping routine
✨ Offers visual sensory input without a big mess
✨ Can be used alongside slow breathing
✨ Gives children an inexpensive, hands-on activity they can personalize

πŸ’‘ TRY THIS: When your child is overwhelmed, have them shake the bottle, sit somewhere quiet, and watch the glitter fall. Encourage them to take slow breaths while they watch it settle.

You can even use the bottle as a visual timer: "Let's watch the glitter settle, take some breaths, and then we'll talk."

Sometimes the simplest projects become the ones kids love most!

What color would your child make? 🌈✨
