City of Keller Government

**TUESDAY MORNING WINTER WEATHER UPDATE*

Facilities: The Keller Pointe fitness and aquatic facility will have a delayed opening of 7 a.m. today. All other city facilities will open at their normal times.

Garbage Services: CWD plans to be back on their garbage and recycling routes Tuesday, and apologizes for Monday's cancellations. Monday's missed pick-ups will be taken care of during residents' second collection, on Thursday. The city is waiting to hear back on whether they will be able to pick up recycling that day as well.

Roads: As of 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Public Works crews report that our collector, arterial and major thoroughfares have improved notably over Monday. Roads throughout Keller, however, still have patches of ice on them, particularly on neighborhood-level streets where traffic volume has yet to assist in breaking up the ice; drivers should continue to use caution as they make their way out for morning commutes.

About 120 tons of sand and de-icing mix have been applied to these roads' intersections as well as bridges, hills and curves throughout town, and trucks continue to work around the clock treating slick spots and priority roads, which includes:

• Mt. Gilead
• Johnson
• Bear Creek Parkway
• North Tarrant Parkway
• Rufe Snow (North and South)
• Keller-Smithfield (North and South)
• Marshall Ridge
• Ridge Point
• Ottinger
• S. Elm
• Whitley
• Rapp
• Willis
• Shady Grove
• Roanoke
• Melody
• North Pearson
• Bancroft
• South Pate Orr
• Preston

To report particularly dangerous road conditions near you, please contact dispatch at 817-743-4200. We will post our next road conditions update Tuesday afternoon ahead of today's evening commute. Road crews will continue to work in rotating 12-hour shifts today to treat roads, switching out around noon.

02/23/2015

The roads have not improved, so the OneSource office and Customer Service will remain closed on Monday.

**WINTER WEATHER UPDATE**

Facilities: All city facilities, including Keller Town Hall, the Keller Public Library, The Keller Pointe and the Keller Senior Activities Center, will be CLOSED TODAY as a result of weather and road conditions.

Garbage Services: CWD has canceled garbage and recycling pickups for today. We apologize for the inconvenience; they do not anticipate a "makeup" day, but will anticipate overflow from today's pickups later in the week during residents' second collection.

Roads: As of 7:30 a.m. roads in Keller remain "slippery and treacherous," according to our streets superintendent. Public Works staff began work overnight treating major intersections, hills, bridges and curves across the city with a mix of sand and de-icing material. Additional sleet and freezing rain, however, continue to fall.

Road crews will continue to work in rotating 12-hour shifts today to treat roads. Drivers are being asked to proceed with caution if they must be on the road before higher temperatures and sunshine assist with crews' clearing efforts.

We apologize for any inconvenience with the roads and facility closures. Stay tuned here and on the city website for additional updates throughout the day. Stay warm and safe out there!

NOW OPEN: Maria Cuca’s Mexican Cuisine, at 800 S. Main St.

This new sit-down offers a wide menu of authentic Mexican dishes (try the Tacos de Mexico featuring handmade corn tortillas) and Tex-Mex with a twist (Cuca’s Nachos are a nacho/potato skin hybrid). At the bar, enjoy a “spicy” version of your favorite imported beers or a selection of signature margaritas.

Maria Cuca’s is named for the late mother of co-owner Enrique Rodriquez, who said he’s wanted to open a restaurant in Keller since his children moved here more than a decade ago. He and co-owner Paula Layton introduce their entire staff as “family,” though some of them actually are — Enrique’s brother, Francisco, is the head chef for both restaurants; and his son, Christian, and fiancée, Aracely Arias, are out on the floor here in Keller.
