Chasing perfection turns hospitality into dread.

Your home is meant to be lived in. Guests arrive hoping for warmth and a place to rest, not a flawless show.

Welcome back to The Thursday Closet.

Most of us have a linen graveyard: that deep drawer or storage bin where beautiful tablecloths and runners go to die. You fold them, stack them away, and then completely forget what you own.

Instead of burying table linens in dark bins, I installed pull-out trouser racks designed for clothing closets.

They glide right out, keep every piece visible at a glance, and save so much shelf space. When it is time to set the table, your linens lift right off the rods ready to use.

Someone might tell you that silver casserole holders are only for holiday dinners. But if you ask me, the prettiest pieces belong in our daily life.

Set it on the kitchen counter next to the stove, slide your favorite cookbooks right inside, and give that vintage piece a whole new job.

The doorbell is ringing in 15 minutes. Now what? 🍂

This is my little 15-Minute Reset for those moments when I want my home to feel welcoming without suddenly deciding I need to deep-clean the entire house.

🕯️ Light a fall-scented candle
🧽 Give the kitchen counters a quick wipe
🍂 Put out a fresh fall hand towel in the guest bath
🍎 Assemble the snack tray
🎶 Turn on my Porch Party playlist

That's it.

I'm not trying to make my house perfect. I'm creating a feeling—cozy, cared for, and ready to welcome people in.

And when those 15 minutes are up? I stop.
Because the most important thing waiting behind that door isn't a spotless house.
It's me. ❤️

Behind 40 years of gathering, collecting, and inheriting, I have found that our cherished pieces lose something when we keep saving them for someday.

Silver can always be polished, and good china was made to be used and enjoyed. These pieces belong in our daily life, surrounded by conversation and the people we welcome into our home.

This was such a fun way to reimagine the traditional cheese board. I shopped at BJ's Wholesale Club for supplies:

🧀 Cubed cheddar cheese
🧀 Individual brie bites
🍇 Grapes
🍓 Strawberries
Meats, crackers and pretzels.

I used washi tape for the "Shark"cuterie tags and bait bobbers for the top. Such a cute presentation.

Add a beautiful Catherine White McIntosh Fort Worth Artist stir sticks and coasters for a lovely fall gathering with girl friends! 🩷

SARTI SPRITZ 🍾

Ingredients
Ice cubes
3 oz Prosecco
2 oz SARTI Rosa
1 oz club soda
Lime slice, for garnish

Directions
Fill a large w**e glass generously with ice.
Add 3 oz Prosecco, followed by 2 oz SARTI Rosa.
Add 1 oz club soda
Give it a quick, gentle stir and garnish with a lime slice.
