GIBSONBURG MAN PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO ATTEMPTED MURDER IN OFFICER STABBING
Scott Allen Dodd Jr., 25, pleaded not guilty Wednesday after a Sandusky County grand jury upgraded the case against him in the Aug. 26 stabbing of Gibsonburg Police Officer Maria Kisha.
Dodd is now charged with: • Attempted aggravated murder, a first-degree felony
• Felonious assault, a first-degree felony
• Obstructing official business
• Possessing criminal tools
Prosecutors say Kisha was answering a trespassing call at Union Bank on W.
Madison Street when Dodd attacked her with a knife and stabbed her in the neck. Police say she returned fire and struck him in the face before he fled. A multi-agency manhunt locked down parts of the village and nearby schools until he was captured that afternoon.
Kisha, Gibsonburg’s only female officer, underwent surgery at a Toledo trauma center and was later described as stable.
Bond remains $1 million cash, no 10 percent. Dodd’s attorney told the court a million-dollar bond is one he could never post. The judge kept it in place.
Dodd was on probation from a 2025 misdemeanor assault conviction at the time of the alleged attack. Sheriff’s officials have previously described him as homeless.
The case is now in common pleas court on the indictment.
