No Framingham Fireworks Show This Summer
Framingham Mayor Charlie Sisitsky announced on Tuesday, May 26, that local officials have decided to not host a fireworks ceremony in the city this summer.
During a meeting with the City Council’s Finance Subcommittee this week, the mayor explained the decision was made, “for a number of reasons, mainly budgetary.”
The announcement came in the midst of Framingham's fiscal year 2027 budget development process, as Sisitsky also announced that he and his administration had officially submitted a roughly $398 million budget plan to local legislators late last week.
The city had been hosting the Stars and Stripes Over Framingham event in the build up to Independence Day since 2023. Before then, Framingham had been without a fireworks show to ring in the Fourth of July for over two decades.
