This week in The Ham’er…

Framingham’s Council narrowly approved the administration’s proposed reorganization 6–5 after a spirited debate.

The plan combines Capital Projects, Facilities Management and Parks & Recreation, while moving the Callahan Senior Center under the Library to create a new Library and Community Services division. The administration projects $200,000–$210,000 in annual net salary savings.

Supporters say the changes will streamline government and reduce costs. Opponents raised concerns about the loss of dedicated leadership for aging services, along with questions about job descriptions, performance measures and salary reclassifications.

Here is a first look at the Mayor's proposed budget.

Using the FY26 average single-family home value of $681,423, the city estimates the average annual tax bill would rise by $361, from $8,061 to $8,422.

The feasibility study for a potential new Keefe Tech building is moving forward this summer.

The Framingham Council met with Keefe Regional Technical School Superintendent Jonathan Evans on Tuesday, April 7, for a financial update on how the school plans to pay for a $2 million feasibility study. This is the first formal step toward what could eventually become the largest capital project in Framingham’s history.
