Watch out! Ice and snow in higher elevations of Monongahela National Forest today and tonight! Just because it's raining at lower elevations does not mean that it's raining up at Spruce K**b or Highland Scenic Highway! Temps fall as you drive up. Don't let ice and snow sneak up on you! Turn around (or better yet - delay your trip) before you put yourself and first responders at risk. Remember, Monongahela National Forest roads are not snow plowed or treated to prevent ice.

A disturbance arrives from the southwest today, prompting a period of mixed precipitation transitioning over to rain in the lowlands. In the mountains, the mixed precipitation prospers into this evening and will impose ice and snow accumulations along the higher ridges. The system exits on Wednesday, but additional disturbances late in the week and next weekend will create additional light snow showers, including across the lowlands, while they keep reinforcing the cold air.
