Everyone loves a holiday weekend, but how many of us know much at all about the origins of Labor Day?

Here are a few fast facts:

- Labor Day originated from the organized labor movement in the late 19th century.
- President Grover Cleveland declared it a national holiday in 1894. (It’s always the first Monday in September!)
- According to modern fashion experts, it’s completely acceptable to wear white after Labor Day. 😉

Toss out that trivia at your barbecues, and enjoy the last days of summer!

We are excited to announce the recipient of our most recent Food for Thought grant — the Hot Springs Food Pantry, located in Hot Springs, South Dakota.

Volunteers Kay Birkholt and Shirley Goforth are pictured below with the brand new fridge they purchased with the grant funding that will help provide fresh food to local families in need.
