When it comes to gators, shot placement is everything—that target area right behind the head is barely the size of a golf ball, making comfort, precision, and confidence behind the trigger non-negotiable.

​Running drills at 15 yards to make sure everything is crisp and second nature before heading into the marsh. Can’t wait to get out there—let the adventure begin! 🐊

Interesting insight on the downfall of MUCC, or Michigan United Conservationist Clubs, which has been around more than 90 years and is a staple of representation of the outdoors in my home state. The magazine they publish is the first one that ever published my writing all the way back to high school (Michigan Out-of-Doors) and, having lived in Texas the last 13 years, I've still been a MUCC member and have subscribed to their magazine. I was shocked to learn of their dissolution and can only but surmise the many contributing factors (declining number of youth in the outdoors, politics, etc.). MUCC was an organization that was designed to bring together the voices of sportsmen and women across the state to share one voice and positively impact the management of our natural resources. To say it's a sad day in Michigan is an understatement.

Texas State Rep and Texas Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus Co-Chair Jeff Barry joined the Texas Outdoor Writers Association 2026 Annual Conference in Rockport to discuss how the Caucus impacts Texas legislature that affects wildlife across the state. The Caucus is an important bi-partisan group of state lawmakers who work to pass legislation supporting conservation and outdoor heritage, such as dedicating sales tax revenue for wildlife departments and securing constitutional rights to hunt and fish.
