Update: A24 talked to Kotaku about the situation.

I’d prefer they talked to the SCP Wiki Staff directly to communicate their plan & provide assurances that their film is respecting our license properly.

Once the legal issue is clear, SCP Wiki wants no further input on the film.

Addendum: To me, reading between the lines so take this with a grain of salt, I think they might be positioning to go the Control route of filing enough serial numbers off to be copyrightable. Which is their right and legal, but makes me a bit less excited for the film.

I’ve always been the “I really want a real SCP movie within the Creative Commons supported by the fans” camp. The publicity of an SCP tribute movie isn’t a bad consolation prize as long as the legal issues are handled.

As per AV Club reporting: SCP Wiki Staff have not heard from V/H/S or A24 about this film.

The Creative Commons license that SCP uses is fine w/ that, but Wiki Staff would simply like to confirm that this high profile of a project is respecting the CC BY SA 3.0 License.

As an SCP Content Creator, I can’t be excited about this until I know our community is going to be respected.
