🏳️‍🌈×🎃 = Spooktember shenanigans!

I’m expanding my pride jack-o’-lantern collection to include a bunch of other pride flag colors! In addition to classic rainbow pride, I’ve expanded my Halloween collection to reimagine this design in le***an, trans, bi, pan, ace, and non-binary variants!

I don’t know how many markets I’ll be able to do over the next few months because of some home improvement projects I need to work on before winter, but all these are now available on my site and I can ship them to you! You can find the link in my bio.

I have a few other Halloween designs I’d like to maybe try to get to yet this year, but what designs would you like to see? Let me know in the comments!

So apparently one of my entries got first place in its category the Minnesota State Fair? 😅

Last year was my first time entering anything in the fair… I entered my BBQ sauce, a little bandsaw reindeer, and my hubby’s tomato juice, mostly because I thought it would be fun. Well then we went and won a few ribbons and that activated a new part of my brain that wants to enter things every single year to be a small part of the legacy of this state that I love oh so much.

I had a pretty big list of things I wanted to make for this year and, naturally, didn’t get most of them done, except for this one, and even it didn’t get framed until an hour before I dropped it off for judging.

Presenting… my Q***r Vexillology flag magnet collection, the first place winner* in the “Collection, made entirely by exhibitor” category.

Small asterisk because I cannot help but be a little self deprecating even when I win apparently: there were only two entries in this admittedly niche category. BUT the fair’s judging guidelines also makes it pretty clear that a 1st place ribbon isn’t a guarantee even if a category only has a few entries… so I suppose considering this could have gotten a 3rd or 4th place ribbon despite there only being two entries, I can still be a little proud of myself? 🤷‍♂️

This collection of q***r pride flags means a lot to me, and not just because it won, obviously. My pride flag magnets have been such a fun creative outlet for me over the past year and it’s become increasingly important to me to try to give everyone in the q***r community the representation and visibility they deserve by means of my magnet designs.

So yeah, something I put a lot of heart into hanging at the Minnesota State Fair with a blue ribbon on it? Pretty neat feeling. 😊

Where exactly can you find this at the fair? I’d love to tell you, but I have no clue, as I won’t be making it to the fair until next week. I know it’ll be in the Creative Activities building, so if you’re there before me, keep an eye out for it! And if you find it, please send me a photo or tag me!

I’m prone to being verbose, so the new outward-facing hanging booth signage I made was doomed to a similar fate. Let’s dissect it shall we?

Can’t have a market sign without the logo, obviously. Comes standard in all trims. I only wish I had chosen a font with a more legible “R.” 🙃

This is where I hope to draw your eye. Visual candy? Check. Playful vulgarity and ***rhumor? Also check.

My own unhinged way of saying I don’t use AI art or stock files in my work. A surprising number of laser folks I’ve seen aren’t using the laser as an artist medium with their own artwork but instead happily use AI or vector stock files they bought on Etsy. This is my way of letting people know that’s not what I’m about; all of my work is my own and .

Minnesotans (myself included) have a lot of . Since “q***r” and “Minnesota” are two of my favorite categories to design for, I figured having this as a final little “exclamation point” on my already very busy sign was fitting.

The grand reveal! I’ve used it at my markets a few times already but didn’t get a decent straight on photo of it, so here it is being held by hand. The reception from customers has been great! It definitely catches people’s eye and I love the comments when people find it funny. 🥰

A little more personality, a little less “everything needs to match.”

I’m trying to get better at internalizing that myself, as I’ve always been drawn to symmetry and order in my decorating. But as I get older, I’m much more of the mindset that our homes should be just as unique and weird as we are as individuals. So give me the fridge covered in tiny art, the weird inside jokes, and the things you bought because they made you laugh over the magazine-ready home any day.

And semi-unrelated but I’m nothing if not self-deprecating… it’s kinda chic to hop on trends when they’re on their way out, eh? 😅
