The True Importance of Christmas Spirit: A Journal Entry
Rainy day before Christmas. As Christmas is fast approaching in our World. I was reminded of how the holiday season isn’t always about picture-perfect moments or well-laid plans. It’s about the spirit behind it all—love, togetherness, and finding joy even in the chaos.
My husband asked me yesterday if I miss something that I need on Christmas Eve. He is afraid that no store will be open. It started with a simple oversight. Between cold weather, notes, and just the busyness of life, I realized—far too late—that I hadn’t solidified my holiday plans. What started as a mild panic soon turned into a makeshift game plan. Glad some stores are still open today, some hastily scribbled lists, and voilà , I had pieced together a Christmas Eve plans. It wasn’t extravagant, but I learned that even the simplest of plans can carry so much warmth.
And I kinda notice late UPS delivery. I recognize some Christmas gift didn’t arrive. As I thought they would. A beautifully personalized Christmas greeting we wrote to our family and friends, and for some reason UPS just couldn’t get it on time. The thought of it, I was disappointed. But then I thought about I tried and its the thought that counts. As long as it would arrive soon.
This year’s unexpected twists and turns reminded me of something important. Christmas isn’t about PERFECTION. It’s about the spirit we bring to it—being present, embracing imperfections, and finding joy in the moments that don’t go as planned. The late preparations, the impromptu solutions, and even the missed deliveries became memories, engrave with love and smiles.
So, this Christmas, as I sit and ponder and look at the Christmas tree entry for 2024, I won’t focus on what went wrong or what was late. Instead, I’ll be grateful for the messy, magical beauty of it all.
P.S: Thanks to the people who extended their Christmas love greetings to us.
