Lily Tomlin once said, “Somebody should do something. Then I realized I AM somebody.” That’s one of the mottos of an animal shelter worker. We live by it personally and professionally. But we can’t do it alone. The animals keep coming and if we are going to help more, we need those already in our shelter to find placement.

Today, we have 53 new dogs coming in from a cruelty case. We now find ourselves in an urgent situation. We have been well-over capacity for months.

We are reaching out to you, the public, to be the change you want to see in the world. Make a commitment to help a shelter dog, which is the majority of our population. We know some of you have been thinking about adoption. Scared of commitment but want to help? Foster today. Give a dog a place to stay for a couple of weeks outside of our shelter. Help us free up some room. Want to help but have other animals? Crate training can make that possible. Tell us about your schedule and home life and we can provide tips to make it work.

Rescues and other shelters are welcome to select a few (or more!) of our available dogs. Transports to other shelters may be arranged.

Pet visitation hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 10am-4:30pm. We are located at 5701 SE 66th Street in Ocala. marionfl.org/animal *Open until 6pm on Thursday, Feb. 1 for adoptions and new foster matches. Adoption fees are waived.
