The Psalmists

Have you recently considered the psalmists? A psalmist is someone who hears and expresses the heartbeat of the Lord through their gifting/skill in music. A psalmist ministers peace, rest, comfort, revelation, and inspiration into a specific time or place he/she is sent by the Lord. (See 1 Samuel 16:21-13 and Isaiah 6:8.) Psalming is not simply what we do, but it’s who we have been created/gifted/skilled to be for the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth in Christ. Modern day psalmists have been through intensive training for Kingdom assignments that are now at hand. Pray about inviting us into your atmospheres to release, shift, worship, pray, or whatever other needs are pressing on your heart, soul, or mind. Also, prayerfully consider the soaking music of psalmists as:

music to to release frequencies that impact physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs
music to shift/release an atmosphere of peace and rest into the stress/anxiety of life/circumstances
music for prayer
inspiration for creativity (painting, sketching, writing, dancing, photography, sculpting, crafts)
music for contemplation
worship
studying the Word
resting
music without words to quietly listen, activating and empowering your own ability to receive needed direction and revelation
releasing melodies, harmonies, rhythms, & frequencies for the healing of body, mind, & soul. To listen to sound clips from all of my CD’s :

A groundbreaking study using brain scans has revealed a disturbing parallel: children exposed to intense family conflict show brain changes similar to those found in combat veterans. That’s right — the emotional warfare inside a home can mimic the neurological toll of literal battlefield trauma.

Researchers found that kids who witness chronic yelling, aggressive arguments, or domestic tension have altered brain activity in areas linked to fear, stress, and emotional regulation. These are the same brain regions often affected in soldiers returning from war zones.

The amygdala, a part of the brain responsible for processing threats and fear, becomes hypersensitive, constantly on alert. Meanwhile, the prefrontal cortex, which helps manage emotions and make rational decisions, often becomes underdeveloped or impaired. This combination can lead to long-term emotional difficulties, anxiety, or even PTSD-like symptoms later in life.

What makes this even more alarming is that many families underestimate the impact of loud fights or emotional tension on children. But the science is clear: a child's brain is shaped by the emotional climate they grow up in.

This discovery highlights the urgent need for family therapy, safe environments, and emotional education to protect developing minds. Just because there are no visible bruises doesn’t mean the damage isn’t real.

A groundbreaking discovery shows your brain is constantly reinventing itself

In 2025, neuroscientists have highlighted the incredible power of neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to reshape its own wiring in real time. Every thought, choice, and habit literally rewires the brain, meaning that who you are is not fixed at birth but evolves continuously based on your experiences and actions. This insight transforms how we understand identity, learning, and personal growth.

Previously, scientists believed the adult brain was largely static, with limited capacity for change after childhood. Neuroplasticity proves otherwise, showing that the brain remains dynamic throughout life. When you learn a new skill, practise mindfulness, or form healthy habits, your neurons create new connections, strengthening pathways that support growth, resilience, and adaptability. Conversely, repeated negative patterns can reinforce less beneficial circuits, affecting behaviour and mental health.

Understanding neuroplasticity empowers us to take control of our own development. It means that recovery from trauma, learning new abilities, and even reshaping personality traits are possible because the brain is not a rigid system but a living, evolving network. Techniques like cognitive training, meditation, and deliberate practice harness this adaptability, helping people overcome challenges and unlock potential that once seemed unreachable.

This discovery is both inspiring and transformative. It reveals that our choices today, small or large, shape the architecture of our minds tomorrow. It shifts the narrative from “you are who you are” to “you can become who you want to be,” opening doors to mental resilience, lifelong learning, and personal reinvention.

As we embrace the power of neuroplasticity, we are reminded that the mind is a canvas, constantly being painted by our actions, experiences, and intentions. The future of self-improvement is limitless because our brains are never finished, they are always evolving, just like us.

Your brain isn’t just a passive observer—it’s an active builder of your reality. A Stanford University study revealed that beliefs can rewire the body’s response in real time. When people were told they had certain genetic traits or health risks—even if untrue—their bodies began responding as though it were real.
For example, participants who were told they had a gene for high endurance showed better physical stamina, even when they didn’t. Others, told they were genetically predisposed to obesity, burned calories more slowly after eating—simply because they believed it. The study highlights the incredible power of mindset over physiology.
This phenomenon connects to the placebo effect, but goes further. It shows that repeated thoughts and beliefs can literally reprogram how your body functions—affecting hormones, metabolism, and even healing. Your thoughts aren’t just floating ideas; they are biological instructions.
The takeaway is profound: what you believe about yourself can shape your health and performance. Harnessing this could transform medicine, psychology, and personal growth—making “mind over matter” more real than ever.

🧠🎶 Playing a musical instrument could help reverse brain aging

New research reveals that music may be one of the most powerful tools for healthy aging.

A study published in PLOS Biology found that older adults in their 60s who had played instruments for much of their lives processed speech in noisy environments almost as efficiently as people in their 20s. Their brains showed stronger neural connections in the right hemisphere, protecting them from age-related cognitive decline.

Even more promising, a second study in Imaging Neuroscience showed that it’s never too late to start. Japanese researchers tracked older adults who began learning instruments and discovered that, after four months of practice, those who continued playing for years showed no signs of brain shrinkage or memory decline—unlike peers who stopped.

Together, these findings suggest that music strengthens “cognitive reserve,” preserves brain structure, and may help keep dementia at bay. Beyond science, music also provides joy, purpose, and social connection—key ingredients for living longer, healthier lives.

✨ So whether you’re 20 or 70, picking up an instrument might just be one of the best brain workouts you can do.

Childhood music lessons do far more than teach kids to play an instrument—they literally strengthen the brain. Research shows that musical training activates multiple brain regions at once, creating stronger neural connections that improve memory, attention, and recall.
Children who practice music regularly learn to store and retrieve complex patterns of notes, rhythms, and lyrics. This constant mental workout enhances their ability to process information, recall details, and focus for longer periods. Over time, these skills extend well beyond music into academics and daily life.
Music also has a unique link to mathematics. Rhythm, timing, and musical structure mirror math concepts like fractions, ratios, and patterns. When music and math learning are connected, studies show children often perform better in problem-solving and numerical reasoning.
In short, music is more than art—it’s a tool for building stronger, more flexible brains. Early training can shape skills that last a lifetime, boosting confidence in both creativity and logic.
