The Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) will host its first “Suits & Sneakers Extravaganza” on Thursday, October 7, 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Claude Moore Colonial Farm. The event will benefit the Claude Moore Colonial Farm’s facilities and activities as well as programs of the GMCC.
McLean area restaurants, including Assaggi Osteria, Café Oggi, Evo Bistro, Fluffy Thought Cakes, J. Gilbert’s Wood Fired Steak and Seafood, JR’S Custom Catering and the Pavilions of Turkey Run, La Sandia, and Wildfire, will provide the gourmet fare. The evening will also feature live music from the McLean Orchestra, a cigar-tasting tent, and the opportunity to sample fine wines recommended by a sommelier. Sponsors of the event will have the chance to imbibe cocktails by Todd Thrasher, the celebrity mixologist famed for his innovative cocktails at Restaurant Eve in Alexandria, Virginia.
The GMCC, which strives to build community by offering professional development opportunities, is encouraging guests to pair business attire with sneakers for the festivities. Local retailers have donated door prizes and silent auction items. Additionally, the GMCC will collect donations of new and gently used sneakers for local children and adult charities.
Congressman Frank Wolf (VA-10th District) and his wife Carolyn Wolf will serve as honorary chairs. Sponsors include the Fairfax County Times Newspaper, CapitalOne, Navy Federal Credit Union, Danner & Associates, Cigar Town, Giant Food of McLean, Safeway of McLean, Carr Workplaces, A2 Design, Inc., Viva Tysons and RDC Communication/Public Relations, LLC and Impact Marketing. Members of the McLean Fire and Police departments, the McLean Community Center and the McLean Project for the Arts also will be on hand to provide information about their activities.
