If you’re in Miami, don’t miss Daniel Rivero at Books & Books this Thursday, Oct. 9 at 7:00pm. Rivero will discuss his new book, JUST FREEDOM, which examines the battle to expand voting rights in Florida. This book details the advocacy and action that led to the passage of Florida’s Amendment 4, which promised to restore voting rights to people with past felony convictions, and shows what went wrong in the years after the amendment’s passing. A journalist who has covered this story for many years, Rivero peels back the layers to reveal the motives that supported and opposed this human rights initiative. Daniel Rivero will be in conversation with Ana Sofia Pelaez.

We are proud to showcase our new, updated logos for the University Press of Florida and UF Press. These logos were designed by Mindy Hill, who joined the Press this year as our book designer, and we are thrilled with how they reflect our history and set the stage for the next era of our publishing program.

The University Press of Florida logo, which features a sun rising over an open book, has been a beloved symbol of our publishing program for many years. For our 80th anniversary, we’ve streamlined and modernized this symbol as we look to the future. This logo represents our enduring commitment to publishing works that illuminate paths forward in a variety of academic disciplines and shed light on local and global issues, all from our vantage point as the only university press in the Sunshine State.

UF Press, which was reestablished in 2015 and celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, also has a refreshed logo design. This logo features UF’s iconic Century Tower and the orange and blue colors of the school.

Keep an eye out for our new logos as you browse our titles online and visit us at fall conferences. And for more Press news, click the link to read our Fall 2025 Newsletter: https://floridapress.blog/f25newsletter/

“Excellent, timely, and fascinating. Dzero adeptly places films into dialogue with novels, television series, and paintings to enumerate and explain different tropes of authoritarian masculinity.”—…
