A MOTHER'S STRENGTH (A STORY OF AMAKA THE SINGLE MOTHER OF TWINS).
My name is Amaka, a single mother of seven years old Twins, a boy and a girl. Amaka always got exhausted eachday she came back home with her children and this will make her slept off on the couch.
It was past midnight, Amaka woke up and went inside her kitchen, staring at the dishes in the sink, laundry waiting to be folded and the children school bags to be prepared for the next morning.
But Amaka biggest challenge was her son's struggle with school work. No matter how much she tried to explain, demonstrate, teach and he would still forget. This made Amaka fustrated. Each time, she gave the son what to solve, he will still not get it and this made Amaka got more fustrated and disappointed especially when the son will broke down with tears knowing that he has disappointed the mother.
His twin sister on the other hand, excelled well in school, making the brother feel even more discouraged. One evening after another fustrating session filled with sighs and tears, Amaka put down the workbook and took a deep breath.
She said to herself: May be i need to stop forcing this and find another way. Next morning, while making breakfast she had an idea. She called the son and asked him to join her in the kitchen and as they cook in the kitchen, they discussed those his school work in a funway with many questions and practical aspects she will display for the son.
From that day, she changed the way she taught him and also noticed a difference on the son. This also made Amaka grew too. She realized that parenting wasnt about having all the answers but also about finding creative ways to help your children succeed.
Amaka from that day, became more patient, more flexible, and more confident in her ability to navigate challenges.
This made Amaka have stronger bond with her children and a wiser version of herself.
She wiped a tear from her eye and whispered to herself, " I am doing Just fine".
