Oct 11: Round Peak Echoes (Rich Hartness, Chester McMillian, Rick Davidson, Joanne Coman Davidson)

What a perfect ending to wrap up this trip. What a magical moment. The band including legendary Rich Hartness & Chester McMillian played at Autumn Leaves Festival, and then did the recording at a tiny room until midnight. Every single tune was on fire. Don’t have enough words to describe how beautiful it was. So many histories and traditions in every single note.
Thank you so much for the band for having us.

Oct 8: Dootsie Rose

It was one of the most memorable sessions for us in many was.
The fabulous singer/guitarist shared tons of hymns with us. We also had her son and granddaughter, and it was so impressive to see that 3 generations played same songs together. The history of families and communities are definitely in there and that is what we are always pursuing. So memorable.

Oct 7: Paul Brown

The legend gave us a warm welcome, and played a couple of tunes on fiddle and banjo, including some songs he learned from his mother who learned those songs from African-American people in Virginia 100 years ago. So impressive in every way - especially his 2 finger banjo picking style he built by himself with an inspiration from Benton Flippen. He also shared a lot of memories of time he had with Benton, Tommy Jarrell, Fred Cockerham and many others.

So fortunate and grateful that we could spend time with him in the beautiful afternoon!
