A deep-sea mystery reveals a cosmic event that shaped Earth 10 million years ago.

A team of scientists led by Dr. Dominic Cole has discovered a strange source of the radioactive isotope beryllium-10 (Be-10) in the deep crust of the Pacific Ocean. Analysis shows that the source was formed about 10 million years ago.
