When billions of snow crystals pile up, light scatters off the tiny surfaces and edges which creates the appearance that they are white. Also, did you know that snow can also be pink, orange, yellow or green? Snow may contain dust or algae that give it different colors. In 2007, orange snow fell over Siberia, and in 2010, pink snow, also called “watermelon snow,” covered Krasnodar, Russia.
