Session two!! And really, that's all it takes. Goats are really fast learners, especially when feed is in the equation. Gives me a lot of good help for milking these girls down the road!

The hardiness and self-sustaining abilities of the Arapawa goats make them a unique genetic resource. The Arapawa is an active breed, which, if handled early in life, makes for an excellent family dairy and meat goat. They become attached to their goat family group and their human keepers, so they can be a good choice for children.

They are escape artists, however, able to squeeze through small spaces and jump, so they require appropriate fencing. Arapawa goats are listed as Critically endangered.

Me knowing full well if I had the funding/support, I would just donate our Arapawa breeding trio to Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead . It's something we are definitely thinking about to expand the breed to a good place, but we always have to weigh how much we are willing to lose when all funds turn right back around to our own herd and future breeding.
Wonder if we could hold enough of a donation drive to cover what we would have sold them for. 🤔🤔

it's always fun letting the girls go out and roam during stall cleaning. Incredibly fun seeing where they end up. Khaleesi didn't care to forage, all the good hay was right there!

🔅Heritage Breed Preservation: The RSG Foundation partnered with Conner Prairie to help preserve the critically endangered Arapawa goat through Laparoscopic Artificial Insemination using semen stored at the Smithsonian.

🔅Breed Expansion: We also support educational efforts surrounding the expansion of Australian White sheep genetics in the U.S. and globally.

We have LOVED having this girl and her sister around. We also got to keep one of Celebrian's twins from this past year, Roka, and they all have very gentle personalities.

SCZ Galadriel, granddaughter of CP Precious through her sire CP Todd. Her twin is SCZ Celebrian. These girls are half sisters to the other set of twins, Jael and Tumnus. Every goat has its own personality; if there's any way to describe this one, she is stubborn with a capital S. Arapawa Goat Breeders Association
