Missing Person-reclassified as Death Investigation

Please see the below press release from the Kane County Coroner's Office regarding this investigation. The Elgin Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Destiny Neal.
This matter remains under investigation but no further information is available at this time.

Officers from the Elgin Police Department have cleared the area. Detectives from the Major Investigations Division are still actively investigating the whereabouts of Destiny.

This morning officers from the Elgin Police Department will be in the area of Abbott Drive and Wing Park conducting a search as part of our continued investigation.

Detectives from the Major Investigations Division have continued to actively investigate the whereabouts of Destiny to include speaking with family, reviewing surveillance video and re-canvassing locations she is known to visit. The Elgin Police Department is still seeking the community’s assistance in helping to locate Destiny.

Missing Person
EPD # 26-35669
On June 19, 2026 at 8:22 p.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of Abbott Drive for a reported missing person. Reported missing is 16 year-old Destiny Neal. She was last seen today at approximately 7 p.m. walking in the area of the 1200 block of Abbot Drive. She is described as a black female, approximately 5’ 5” tall, 100 lbs with short black hair. Destiny was last seen wearing an orange/brown sweater, and gray sweatpants. She was also carrying pink/black duffle bag.
Detectives are actively investigating Destiny’s whereabouts and are requesting assistance from the community. With the permission of Destiny’s family we are sharing her picture to aid in the investigation.
