When your life depends on the whims of your audience and the algorithm, it’s easy to forget the real world.

And so much of what’s online isn’t real, between bots with their script and trolls just looking to ruin someone’s day.

We see so many creators careers end because they built a network that relied on the consistency of views in the name of “only being beholden to their audience” and “it’s the company’s job to pay me”.

While admirable, this is a completely unrealistic structure for long-term survival. These are private companies that can tank your views with a tweak of their algorithm or demonetize your account with the push of a button.

Not to mention the fact that the average earnings is $100.00 for every million views.

Maintain the quality of your product and set up those Patreons, Subscriptions, Memberships, and Stores. Let your audience support you in a way that’s going to last and is outside the control of a computer glitch or the whims of a board member.

The road to publishing a book involves rewriting it so many times you’re tired of reading it. It will be the book you hate the most because you just want it to be over. But when it’s done, you will have the accomplishment of doing something less than 1% of humanity has ever done. You wrote a book, and not just a book, but a GOOD book.

Failing to keep all the details in a manuscript straight has lead to the embarrassment of more then one author. Spreadsheets are your friend and make sure you get your work edited.

We see it all the time, people posting four to six times a day trying to save a flagging account.

Don’t do that. It’ll kill your engagement and keep you in whatever numbers jail you’ve fallen into that caused you to start doing that in the first place. Take a break, check your analytics, and if you can’t figure out what’s wrong, give us a call. 😉

Using audio other than your own voice can be a useful story telling tool. But if your lips don’t match the words, it makes it harder for people to suspend their disbelief and it can even make the work come off lazy.

Take the extra time and learn the script. It’s time consuming and repetitive, but your videos will come off better quality and it’ll be worth it in the end.

We can’t prove it since it’s not like the developer is going to tell us, but there is some evidence to support this theory.

Also, people are going to see the watermark, and assume the video is stolen.
