You CAN Reduce the Size of Government

Believe it or not every Lee County voter can play a role in reducing the size of government. On your ballot this year will be an option to merge the Fort Myers Beach Mosquito Control District into the Lee County Mosquito Control District. The proposed Bill says that "most taxpayers will see a reduction in their millage rate." But that’s not all. The Fort Myers Beach Mosquito Control District refuses to pay Lee County $20,000 to spray mosquitos in the Estero Bay, which is in the Fort Myers Beach Zone. Only Lee County can do the work because the spraying needs to be done by helicopter and Fort Myers Beach does not own any helicopters. Residents in Estero are getting eaten alive this season because the mosquitos have been laying tens of thousands of eggs and nothing has been done to neutralize them. Some residents have had to go outside their homes wearing mosquito masks while others are considering selling their homes it’s gotten so bad. If that wasn’t bad enough, the Fort Myers Beach Mosquito Control District will head into 2027 with an $800,000 surplus.

VOTE YES to merge Fort Myers Beach into Lee County.
