Today our hearts are heavy as we honor the life and legacy of
Dr. Elaine Ingham, PhD.
Elaine didn’t just teach soil biology — she revealed a living universe beneath our feet. Through the Soil Food Web, she showed the world how life below ground sustains life above it, and how regeneration begins with understanding nature’s original design.
For our Founder & CEO, Kevin Fretz, Elaine was far more than a professor or author. She was a mentor, guide, and dear friend for over three decades.
“Elaine gave me the missing piece to solving waste-to-resource technology for growing organic turf, farms, parks, and gardens that keep families and animals safe.”
— Kevin Fretz
That missing piece became the foundation of our work in 2006.
Elaine taught us that true restoration doesn’t come from chemicals or extraction — it comes from biology, balance, and respect for the invisible communities that make soil alive. Because of her guidance, degraded land can be healed. Organic waste can become living soil again. And regeneration becomes not just possible — but practical.
She believed in teaching, not gatekeeping.
In empowering people, not selling fear.
In nature as the ultimate teacher.
We will miss her brilliance, her generosity, her laughter, and her unwavering commitment to life beneath the soil and all around us.
Rest in peace, Elaine.
Your roots run deep.
Your legacy lives on in every regenerated field, every thriving garden, and every life you touched. 🌱
You are deeply missed.
