Man, this year started out a little rocky.
To be honest, I’m kind of glad I did.
Sometimes we need to be tested.
I thought I would test myself by lifting more weights since I was doing so much running last year.
Little did I know that my strength was not ready for the exercises I was trying.
I learned the hard way with a dislocated wrist.
After a trip to the ER, my arm in a sling for weeks and some physical therapy, I’m happy to say I’m back at it.
Here are some things I learned:
1. Set a new goal every year.
2. Plan the steps for success.
3. When things go wrong, reset your mind. Your body will heal. Your mind is what needs to shift.
When I realized I could switch to the 5K from the 15K I was training for everything changed.
4. Always have a baseline of fitness to fall back on. I walk 30 minutes every morning.
5. You’re never stuck. You just need to re-route.
6. Find the biggest guy at the gym if you think you’re going to faint. ☺️ .gilbert
Your greatest setback can be your greatest comeback.
How quickly I forgot all the hard things I had already been through and overcame.
What have you overcome that you’re proud of?
