We’re live on 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗽𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 with 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶 from 𝗣𝗮𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗮𝗿 - an organization supporting veterans and first responders with service dogs, while also rescuing animals in crisis (including from war zones).

𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄, we’re talking about the kind of mission that hits you right in the heart - and actually does the work.

On 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗽𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 tomorrow, we’re joined by 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶 from 𝗣𝗮𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗮𝗿.

Paws of War’s mission is to support veterans, first responders, and their families - especially those dealing with invisible wounds like PTSD - by pairing them with loyal service dogs that become real partners in healing. At the same time, they rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats in crisis, including animals from war-torn regions.

A few quick facts that honestly stopped me in my tracks:

* Founded in 2014
* 300+ service dog graduates to date
* 455 dogs rescued since 2014
* 988 volunteers giving 68,000+ hours

Ahead of tomorrow’s live conversation with 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻, LCSW (Executive Director of 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵), here’s a clear snapshot of what HCO is doing for marginalized neighbors from Montauk to Riverhead:

𝗛𝗖𝗢’𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵:

* Food Outreach: weekly deliveries of fresh produce, groceries, and grocery gift cards to 400 families

* Crisis Care: help with urgent needs like medical/dental care, utilities, rent, and support for people experiencing homelessness

* Housing Repairs: 70 homes renovated + 4 prefabricated homes installed, with 62 more families on the waiting list

* Child-Centered Outreach: summer camp, tutoring, college counseling, swim lessons, plus essentials like school supplies, coats, shoes, and hygiene items

We’re going 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟬𝗮𝗺 𝗘𝗧 on 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗽𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀!

This 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟬𝗮𝗺 𝗘𝗧, Philanthropy in Phocus is going live with 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻, LCSW, Executive Director of 𝗛𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 (𝗛𝗖𝗢).

HCO lifts people out of poverty and reduces human suffering by meeting basic needs - and creating opportunities that can change life trajectories for marginalized neighbors across the East End, from Montauk to Riverhead.

We’ll talk about what many people don’t realize: even in high-cost communities, there are families facing food insecurity, unsafe housing, and urgent crisis needs - and what it takes to show up in practical, human ways.
