Unused or expired medications shouldn't be flushed down the toilet – chemicals from prescription medicines can damage your town's water treatment system – or your own septic system.

Instead, bring your expired and unused pills, powders, patches and ointments to the prescription medication take-back event Saturday, Oct. 25 at Fry’s from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Medications, pills, powders, patches and ointments are accepted — but do not bring needles, inhalers or liquids.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), most people who misuse prescription drugs get them from family, friends, and acquaintances – and the risk of overdose doubles for young people who have family using opioids.

Keep track of the medicine you have, and re-think where and how you store your medications in your home. Safely dispose of unused medications at events such as this one Oct. 25.
