STRENGTH TO WEIGHT - World Premiere this weekend!

is at the peak of his climbing career when he is blind-sided by his father’s severe stroke. Torn between two realities, at home in San Francisco taking care of his dad and the pressure of being a professional athlete, he eventually has to break open emotionally to rise to the challenge in this masculine and vulnerable father-son story.

This weekend, “Strength to Weight” world premieres at the Telluride Mountain Film Festival and honestly, it’s hard to believe we finally get to share this film.

What started as a climbing movie about slowly turned into something much bigger and more human than we expected. Yes, the film is full of big climbing goals, wild adventures, and some of the hardest climbing Ethan has ever done, but at its heart, it’s really a story about family, love, loss, purpose, and figuring out who you are through all of it.

It’s funny, raw, messy, emotional, and deeply personal in ways we never could have planned for when we first started filming.

We’re incredibly proud of this one and very excited to finally share the film with all of you.

I am so excited to share this movie about a remarkable climber, his life pushing his limits on rock, and his internal struggle as a caretaker for his dad. Ethan was doing it all for a decade, at his physical peak while mentally being torn in two. It was a very emotional ride making this film, with highs and lows to the extreme. From the cliffs of Ceuse, France to the big walls of Yosemite, CA - we saw it all and watched Ethan do his thing from behind the camera so that we could share this amazing story.

Premiering at this weekend then on a mini film tour in Oakland, CA and Los Angeles, CA on the 27th and 28th of May. Join Ethan in the theater for poster signings, raffle, photo ops, and on stage Q&A with the legend in person! Link in bio for more details.

Big props to Matt Segal who put his head down and did the hard work rigging, prepping, working, and SENDING this beast of a wall. 5x pitches 5.13 or harder, overhanging for 400m, and a sharp technical 5.13 right at the summit. So sick!!!

Not all projects go as planned. It was in the cards for and to free climb La Sombra del Chamán as a team but Emily kept running into mental and physical obstacles and it wasn’t her day in the end. She fought like hell regardless and in true “in a day” style, saw to it that Matt got to the top for the IAD tick of a seriously impressive multipitch big wall.
