Oak City Sessions - 2016 - Hotline (full show)

If you haven't had a chance yet to check out Raleigh's new live music TV series Oak City Sessions, you should probably get on that. It's been a pleasure getting to do the post production mixing for most of these episodes, can't wait to see what else this first season brings.

Here's the most recent episode featuring the rad dudes from Hotline:

And here's the episode prior, with some killer live hip hop from Shirlette Ammons:

Sorry Not Sorry Official Music Video

So excited that Erin Nenni's music video and EP got released today! Had a lot of fun writing and recording these songs with her, Rachel Hirsh and John Booker, plus getting to play some drums in the video.

Check it out on youtube, and if you like it you can grab a download of the EP from iTunes or Amazon.

Noise Creators

So honored to be a part of Noise Creators and had a great time recording my own episode for their podcast today. If you haven't checked it out yet, it should be required listening for anyone who takes their music seriously and wants to become a better recording artist.

I think my personal two favorite episodes to date are with Stuart Richardson and Aaron Marsh, but every one of these is just a goldmine of information and thoughts on music production and creativity.

Noise Creators helps musicians get to know the best producers in music today. Jesse Cannon hosts a podcast that gets inside these producer's thoughts.

Can't See Right, by Dragmatic

Dragmatic just released a track from the first full length record I've been heavily involved in producing front to back. We put in a ton of work from doing pre-production last year, all the way through me faking my way through key parts, getting some badass pedal and lapsteel from Whit Wright, and even Steve Baker killing some horn parts.

Give a listen to one of the songs that surprised me the most and became one of my favorite tracks on the record, and keep a lookout for the album release show so you can go pick up a copy!

Yours Truly, by I Was Totally Destroying It

Check out the new single "Yours Truly" I got to produce, engineer and mix for I Was Totally Destroying It! Love the guitar tones we got on this, and thanks as always to Jesse Cannon for the great mastering.

If you're into it you can name your price to download it from their Bandcamp.

Great review of Youth League's new EP, the most recently released thing I've gotten to work on. Excited to get some more new music out soon as I work through mixes for Dragmatic, Avast, Erin Nenni, Kasey Tyndall, Handsome Foxes, and finish up tracking for Slinger Francisco's next EP and some really great tunes by Jake Rogers.

First EP, by Youth League

Youth League just released the EP we've been working on for the past few months today and it turned out sounding fantastic. These guys are crazy talented and I always love getting to work on their stuff, plus It's the first thing that's come out from the new studio space!

Give it a listen and if you dig it you can download it for FREE this weekend only. My personal favorite tracks are Japanese Draculas and For John.

If you're around Wilmington you can go check them out live at Reggies 42nd Street Tavern tomorrow night for their release party.

About

Lot's of new stuff that I've been behind on posting about:

1. In case you missed it, the studio is located in Chapel Hill now, so shoot an e-mail to [email protected] if you're in the area and want to book a session!
2. We have a website: www.freemanproductionsstudio.com
3. Kurtzweil just released the masters of the 4 songs we did together at the old studio, so go check those out on their website: http://kurtzweilmusic.com/. "Not A Game" was an especially fun one to mix.

More new stuff is on the way from Close Up On The Quiet Ones, Youth League and Dragmatic!

Official website for Freeman Productions Studios. A professional home recording studio located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Breaking in the new studio space in Chapel Hill today recording some tracks for the Youth League EP. Very fitting, since it's the new project from some of the guys in Virgin Lung, and their first EP was the first thing I ever really did in the old studio.

Jason Martin - Let Me Stare Lyric Video

Here's the first single from Jason Martin's new EP that they came up from Baton Rouge to record a few months back. Give it a listen if you like blues or rock, there's plenty of both. These guys might be the best players I've had come through the studio to date.

The Future of Yesterday, by Oort Patrol

This album doesn't come out on iTunes, etc. until Tuesday but luckily for you it got put up on Bandcamp early. This is hands down one of the most fun things I've gotten to work on to date. If you like insanely catchy, silly old-school punk (with du-wop harmonies), make sure you give this a listen and pick up a copy!

If you dig, keep your eyes on the Oort Patrol page and maybe there will be more music or a live performance one day.

P.S. "Attack of the Nosrednas" is probably my personal favorite.

¡pretend surprise!

Here's some angular, ambient rock from ¡pretend surprise! out of Wilmington that I got to work on a few months ago. Pick up a copy of the Butcher It EP we did, out now on Blood Drunk Records!

https://pretendsurprise.bandcamp.com/

Pretend Surprise is a band that puts on a fiery live show. The music is moody and sometimes danceable rock, filled with hard hitting drums and inordinate but caustic guitar playing. The band ignores typical construction and the songs wander and burn, coming off free-form coupled with a powerful lead…

My Brother, My Sister's 1st Record, by My Brother, My Sister

So I'm dumb and didn't realize that this album I recorded came out haha. It was a super fun few days of tracking, and a pleasure to mix. These guys are all fantastic musicians and have a really unique sound, so please give it a listen if you have a second, and snag a copy if you enjoy:
