Our Summer Edition (available the week of June 15th) of To be YOUNG Magazine will feature a tear-out patriotic coloring contest for kids in 5th grade and below.

Entries need to be submitted to either Library of Graham, Texas or Olney Public Library by July 1st to be judged for prizes!

Thank you Olney Hamilton Hospital for supplying gift cards for our winners - $100 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place. Three winners for each library!

This was a collaborative effort, and we can't thank KC Dumpsters, LLC enough for sponsoring this page, allowing us to pay for the incremental costs of printing it!

Also a huge thank you to Leslie Rogers for drawing the image and Beth Prichard and Christen Horner for being our judges! All are members of the Graham Art Guild!

We are excited to share that four Young County ISD's took part in our first annual History Essay Contest - in partnership with Jim Hammond of Fort Belknap and other Young County Historical Commission members; Olney ISD, Newcastle ISD, Graham ISD, and Open Door Christian School!

Junior High students submitted essays in late April to Jim Hammond for judging (names of the students were not included). Jim Hammond and other local Historians rated each essay and chose the first-place finisher for each ISD.

I've had the privilege of attending various awards ceremonies over the past two weeks and delivering a certificate and prizes donated by Pratt's Books, The Old Post Office Museum & Art Center, and Young County Museum of History and Culture to winners!

Winners and their essays will be published in our Patriotic Summer edition of To be YOUNG Magazine - available the week of June 15th - for everybody to read!

This is Hailey Strider, the winner from Graham ISD! She won first place with a fascinating article on "The Battle of the Alamo".
Congratulations to Hailey and our other three Young County ISD winners! I know Jim Hammond was very pleased with the quality of the essays submitted.

Our hope is to make this an annual tradition to help recognize our young, local writers and historians in Young County, as well as further celebrate the history of our County, State, and Country!

What inspired us to open our doors?

After building and running two successful restaurants in Southwest Colorado, and spending years restoring historic buildings, Bob Hart saw something familiar in Graham.

An old building on the Square. Worn down, but full of potential.

The vision came quickly - restore the space, bring it back to life, and create a place where locals and travelers could gather over great food.

I know many of us have Mineral Wells in our thoughts and prayers after the horrific storm impact a couple days ago.

If you'd like to donate money, items, or time to help those in need in Mineral Wells, here's the information:
