Concert Recap... The Red, White, and Blue Tour came to Danville, VA on May 23rd, 2026 and certainly did not disappoint. Opening the show was Jeff Bates bringing his rich vocals and impressive guitar playing covering classic country standards and his own hit records. Shout-out to lead guitarist Luke Williams who even challenged Jeff Bates to a guitar battle. I even enjoyed Jeff Bates cover with the Billy "Crash" Craddock hit "Rub It In." The local crowd sure did love it too.
Then, longtime musician for Jimmy Buffet and Randy Travis and others, Doyle Grisham delighted the crowd with his musical expertise.
Then came Paulette Carlson of Highway 101. I have wanted to see her show since the early years when I started in country radio back in 1986. Well, my dream came true and Paulette brought every bit of class to classic country music with here beautiful outfit and strong vocal performance. We could all see how much she still lives to perform as she danced and swirled her bright colored thematic outfit. I was beaming when she finished her many hit setlist with one of my all-time favorites, "Whiskey, If You Were A Woman", a honky-tonk classic as heard many times on my radio show.
Then, as if the night could not get better, the crowd roared when Ronnie McDowell came on stage... I have seen Ronnie perform many times and his show always leaves the crowd wanting more. Ronnie McDowell is every bit an incredible entertainer. He engages with his audience in a way no one else can and each member of the audience feels like he performed just for them, literally. You can't help falling in love (to coin a song lyric from his own inspiration of Elvis) with every bit of what Ronnie brings to the show. His band played through each set and sounded incredible. It was great to see Ronnie McDowell Jr. And Tyler Dean McDowell and Steve Stephen Shepherd add to the perfect night.
Several followers who have grown to know and love and see many times got together and enjoyed an amazing dinner and a show together. Thanks to the many fans of my Classic Country Saturday Night radio show who came up to me after the concert to reconnect. I also want to say how thrilled I was to meet Carole Hylton with Lakes Media Group and CountryLegends1059.com online for making all of us feel so welcome. It definitely was a Classic Country Saturday Night and we are all the better for getting to be a part of it.
