This pin button design comes from the compass on Ricardo’s poster “It Is Our Duty to Win”, featuring these words from Black revolutionary Assata Shakur pointing the way to the “north star” of freedom.

Written from a prison cell in 1973, the quote has since become a rallying cry for the movements for Black lives and total liberation.
