DID YOU KNOW? ( #2)
Did you know that networking in the music industry is the key to getting bookings and getting people to hear your music?
When I first started producing, I was impatient and trying all sorts of methods to get my music heard, and nothing really stuck. As I progressed through my production journey and released music, I realized that joining a music community was essential to grow my reach as an artist and connect with the right people who provided live music opportunities.
The more people you know, the more opportunities you have to be heard.
I guess what I am saying is that if you want your music to be heard, you have to go listen to others. Networking is truly the majority of the battle when it comes to growing as an artist. It is something that I personally am not very good at, and I find that I need to make more of an effort to do.
Engage with people on social media, connect with people online, connect with people at shows, and focus on sharing your vision as an artist if your goal is to reach more people.
Unfortunately, it is not 100% about your music in most scenarios (unless the algorithm eats it up, if it does get your bag), so market and connect with people who share your vision and more opportunities should present themselves.
I need to be better about this, but it is so so SO important to do this if your goal is to reach more people.
