✨ Hoof angles matter! ✨
While I usually share about bodywork and soft tissue health, I couldn’t be prouder of the progress this horse has made over the past 6 months.

Despite some conformational limitations, the changes in his hoof balance and structure have been incredible. It’s a reminder that thoughtful trimming and consistency truly make a difference.

Every detail matters. From the hoof to the spine because it’s all connected. This kind of transformation doesn’t happen overnight, but with the right care and commitment, it does happen. 🙌

Nature's Rein a company I’m incredibly proud to stand behind. Their products are made with all-natural, human-grade ingredients and crafted with genuine care and compassion for our animals. A rare find these days.

I personally use the entire product line with my horses and my dogs! I've seen the difference it makes.

A few of my must-haves during my bodywork sessions are the Re-Leaf Liniment (amazing for soothing sore muscles) and the Freedom Fly Spray (because happy horses don’t swat! I may even spray myself with it 🤣 it does smell that good).

If you’ve been looking for clean, effective, and horse-friendly solutions. I’ve got you covered. 🐴💚

Hindsight as a Teacher, Not a Weapon

We don’t know what we don’t know.

I’ve spent years unpacking old habits, old choices, and old beliefs I held about what “good care” looked like. Not out of shame, but out of a commitment to do better.

And I’m not the only one.

▪️The rider who used draw reins or harsh bits because a trainer said it was needed.

▪️The owner who skipped dental checks because “they’re eating fine.”

▪️The person who thought weight loss was just “a picky eater,” not pain, GI or kidney issues.

▪️The well-meaning person who let the same chiropractor adjust their horse in the same spot every visit and never once questioned why it kept coming back.

▪️The person paying for all the trendy tack because its "pretty" yet isnt functional

▪️The loving owner who waited until there was a limp before calling for help.

None of us meant harm. We did what we thought was right. We followed what we were told. We watched what others were doing. And maybe, like me, we were winning or placing, so we assumed the horse was fine.

But sometimes horses are trying in spite of what we’ve done, not because they’re okay.

I see it now in my old gelding Lucas. His body is a map of my past choices:
Starting undersaddle with an unfit body
A saddle that didn’t quite fit.
A cinch and pad that wasnt breathable.
Infrequent dental care.
Long hoof care cycles.
Working him until he sweat thinking thats getting fit
Too many hard rides, not enough recovery.

His splayed posture, arthritic changes, and muscular compensation aren’t random. They’re the result of what I didn’t know and what no one around me helped me understand.

That’s why I’m sharing this. Not for pity. Not for praise.
But because I know I’m not the only one.
And if I can help just one person see their horse more clearly, sooner. Then it’s worth every word.

So I ask you to reflect:
– Are you seeing results, or just hearing the right terminology?
– Are you truly collaborating with your professionals, or just following the routine?
– Do your horses feel better consistently, or just for a little while after a service?
– Is your care plan proactive, or reactive?

We all deserve support that leads with education, compassion, and honest conversations, not shame.

Let’s normalize learning.
Let’s normalize change.
Let’s choose humility and growth over pride and performance.

And if you ever need someone to talk to or ask questions
I’m a message away.
No judgment. Just truth. And a deep desire to help you and your horse thrive.

🧠 Root Cause vs. Compensation: The Horse Is Telling You Something

Pay attention.

Take a good look at this horse. The posture, the angles, the fascia, he's a walking red flag parade.
And yet… he’s still being ridden. Still expected to perform. Still showing “naughty behavior and kind of off.”

Here’s what the arrows show:
🔮 Purple – Negative palmar/plantar angles (NPA). This is a ROOT issue. It affects biomechanics from the ground up and creates a cascade of stress through the entire body.
🟥 Red – Aggravated or overloaded joints. Inflammation? Remodeling? Arthritis? Could be another ROOT issue. Don’t wait until it’s obvious. The signs were here long before the limp.
💚 Green – Fascia and muscle restrictions. The body is trying to COPE. Compensate. Stabilize. These are responses, not causes.

💥 And this? This is not a behavior problem.
This is pain.

When I asked about him, the answers were all too familiar:
• “He just doesn’t want to work today.”
• “We’ll just bute him after riding.”
• “My bodyworker said he’s compensating and just needs a few more sessions.”
• "My farrier says he just grows like that."
• "We get PEMF 2x a month"
• " He has a salt block."

Okay.....but why is he compensating in the first place? How has no one said anything?!?

A real professional is willing to collaborate. A con will isolate. One wants to help your horse and the other wants to be your only option.
Choose someone thats showing up for the horse not just the invoice.

You need to ask:
✅ What’s happening in the feet?
✅ What’s going on in the joints?
✅ What’s his diet supporting? Inflammation or healing?
✅ How is his training? Is it helping or hurting?
✅️ Is he conditioned to handle the workload?

Because truthfully
It’s never just one thing. It's a combination.
And if you wait too long, you’ll end up paying for all the things all at once. 💰

It took time to get here. It will take time to undo it. But the fastest route to progress is not guesswork, it’s collaboration and finding your root cause.
This horse needs:
🩺 Vet • 🐴 Farrier • 💆 Bodywork • 💪 Nutrition • 🧠 Smarter training

Bodies take time. Shortcuts and blind eyes will surface one way or another.
Are you proud of what you see?
And more importantly…
Are you paying someone who is?

💥Support builds athletes. Band-aids cover mistakes. Don’t confuse the two💣

So many people are afraid of the word “maintenance.” But it's not the enemy.
What we should fear is the lack of a solid foundation that leaves horses needing to be taped together just to function🩹

🧬 Poor nutrition doesn’t just “make a horse dull”. It affects development, recovery, weakness/wasting, inflammation, energy, and healing.
❌️Incorrect hoof angles don’t just look bad. They lead to bone remodeling, joint strain, soft tissue injury, and compensation all the way up the body.
💀 Poor posture isn’t just “sloppy” it causes misalignment, muscle imbalances, arthritic changes, chronic tension, and dysfunctional movement patterns.
Poor saddle fit, bad bits with bad hands, unbalanced riders, poor training etc.

🛑 You can’t bute a horse into soundness.
🛑 You can’t throw the kitchen sink at a horse and call it "maintenance" when really it’s damage control and yet these horses are still being hammered on.
Expected to run harder, turn tighter, jump higher, carry more, more, more, more, MORE.
With no structured recovery, no supportive care, and no awareness of the imbalance boiling beneath the surface.

Why did it take years of poor hoof angles before anyone thought to get radiographs?

Why did she have to stumble and run up the wall before anyone asked about back pain?

Why does it take ulcers, aggression, refusals, or full-blown breakdowns before a horse’s needs are finally addressed?

Or ignore it further as someone commented in a recent post, "make them pound rocks from sunrise to sunset and they will learn to love their job again"

The truth is: They needed the right care, earlier.
They didn’t need to be patched together. They needed to be supported before they fell apart.

Real maintenance starts with a real foundation:
✅ Balanced nutrition
✅ Correct balanced hoof angles
✅ Strength-based conditioning
✅ Recovery time
✅ Postural awareness
✅ Whole-horse support

There are so many ways to help horses thrive.
Not just masking symptoms with meds until the wheels fall off and discarded at the local sale barn.

Respect them as athletes not disposable tools.
Yes, injections, meds, and supplements can all be part of a solid program.
But bandaging breakdowns and calling it “maintenance” is not the same as building a healthy, functional, supported athlete.

Because a horse that feels good will give you everything.
Let’s do better. So they don’t have to break before they’re heard.

We owe it to them to look at the bodies we’ve helped shape and ask yourself "Are you proud of what you see?"

🐴☕ Professionally Unstable, Caffeinated, and On My Way

Yes, I’m a professional.
Yes, I have too many certifications.
Yes, I just rescheduled myself across five states and three time zones because I thought Tuesday was Wednesday and Google Maps tried to fight me on too many occasions.

But listen—
✨ I will show up.
✨ I will work magic on your horse.
✨ And I will have ingested a questionable amount of coffee.....copious, even.
The kind of quantity that could put down an elephant and possibly make time travel a side effect. ☕💀💫

Scheduling this Oregon + California run like I’m playing expert-level Tetris blindfolded, but we’re making it work, folks. If you want in, now’s the time. Before I spontaneously combust from caffeine and ambition.

Is your horse’s diet quietly working against them?

So many horses are dealing with chronic issues and despite bodywork, vet care, or training tweaks, something still feels off. Often, the missing link is in the diet.

Feeding Alfalfa? Rice Bran? Beet pulp? Complete or Stradegy? Senior feeds? Multiple supplements? Licks or blocks?

Supplements like Red Cell might look helpful on the label, full of vitamins and minerals but most horses are already getting plenty of iron through hay, feed, and even their water.

That extra iron? Becomes dangerous at high levels. It can block the absorption of crucial nutrients like copper and zinc, throw off gut flora, fuel inflammation, and create systemic stress.

This CAN show up as:

❌️Oxidative stress

❌️Difficulty gaining or holding weight

❌️Poor hoof growth or frequent cracks

❌️Ulcers or chronic gut irritation

❌️Hyperirritability in muscles and soft tissues

❌️Behavioral changes or anxiety or explosiveness

❌️Stiffness

❌️Arthritic symptoms or changes

❌️Tying up

❌️Poor recovery despite days off or active recovery days

❌️Vision changes

❌️Poor performance despite good training

It’s easy to unintentionally create imbalance or even toxicity when layering feeds, licks, blocks, and supplements.

Check your ingredients!!!

➡️Well-meaning doesn’t always mean well-balanced. Make sure your supplement program is doing more good than harm.

💬 Not sure where to start? Drop a comment or message me. I’m happy to help you sort through what your horse actually needs and what they don’t.

Wrapping up bodywork on some incredible athletes today.

These Buggin The Judge babies just keep impressing me.🔥

And then came the real highlight: meeting little Finnick 😍 This c**t is adorable, sweet, curious, and already soaking up attention like a pro. Just like his dad. He got the full experience, including some "bodyworker-approved" scratches 😆💙

She was tense beneath my hands.
Bracing, unsure, and carrying more than she could explain.
She didn’t know what I wanted from her, and I didn’t blame her.

So I quieted myself first. Slowed my breath. Softened my thoughts.
I asked her to lower her head not as a demand, but as an invitation. And I met her there.

I didn’t try to fix or force anything. I just held space.
That simple, powerful act of being present without expectation.

Holding space is so therapeutic because it gives the nervous system permission to shift,
to move from guarded to grounded,
from survival to softness,
from being on edge to being enough.

When we hold space, we say:
"You’re safe here."
"You don’t need to perform or be perfect."
"You matter just as you are."

It’s a beautiful thing to meet a horse or person, exactly where they are and offer that unspoken reassurance:
You’re not broken.
You don’t have to earn your right to rest.
Let me help you feel better.
Let’s heal, quietly.
Together.
