Overnight, firefighters continued to mop up the Board Shanty Fire. They have now secured 200-feet from the line into the interior of the fire, bringing containment to 30%

Today, 204 personnel are assigned to the fire, including (8) 20-person crews, (2) engines, (5) water tenders, a set of tree fallers, and various overhead staff. Aircraft are also available if needed, and a reconnaissance flight is planned for 2PM to survey the fire.

The remaining LEVEL 1 - Ready Evacuation Advisories are:
JCU-436, JCU-437, and JCU-448-A.

THANK YOU, FIREFIGHTERS for all you have done and all you continue to do!

As of 10am, Saturday morning the Board Shanty Fire is roughly 469 acres, with containment at 4%.

There are still three areas listed as "Level 2 - Set" evacuation level: JCU-436, JCU-437, JCU-448-A

There are also two areas listed as "Level 1 - Ready" evacuation level: JAC-068, JCU-448-B

Last night, incident resources maintained the direct lines on the north end of the fire and used established hose lays to begin cooling the north perimeter. On the south end, the fire escaped initial control lines and new lines had to be established.

High temperatures and gusty winds are anticipated throughout the day and will drive active fire behavior. Crews and heavy equipment on the ground will hold and improve established lines to the north, continue strengthening a direct line to the south, and hold the current fire perimeter. Smoke will be visible in the area throughout the day.

Air resources, including helicopters, air tankers, and air attack planes, will again assist ground crews with water and retardant drops. Helicopters will be the most utilized by aiding in cooling portions of the fire so ground crews can build on containment lines.

As a reminder, drone use near fires is both illegal and extremely dangerous to pilots working on incidents. If you fly, fire fighting aircraft cannot. All illegal drone use will be reported to law enforcement.

As of 10:49PM, Thursday, July 17, 2025

Firefighters remain engaged on the fire and are actively working on building a line aroudn the perimeter to keep it as small as possible.
Numerous retardant drops from air tankers earlier created temporary fire lines that resources are now solidifying.
Resources are are responding to the spot fires near Green Creek Road. The fire is still estimated to be 150 acres. With cooler temperatures overnight, resources expect to have an upper hand as they continue to work on the incident. Steep terrain is creating a challenge with water flow as firefighters lay hoses for water access.

There is a LEVEL 2 - BE SET to evacuate notice in effect for:
JSU-436 Board Shanty Creek Road
JCU-437 Savage Creek Road

There is a LEVEL 1 - READY evacuation order for:
JCU-448 North Murphy (southern end of Board Shanty)
JAC-068 Northern Savage Creek approaching RR Hwy
