World War II wasn’t just fought with bullets and bombs, it was fought with morale. And for British soldiers slogging through the mud and chaos after D‑Day in 1944, morale often came in the form of something simple: a pint of beer.

Back home, breweries wanted to support the troops. They donated beer, free of charge, as a gesture of gratitude and solidarity. But here’s the problem, after the landings in Normandy, shipping space across the English Channel was precious. Every inch was needed for weapons, food, and medical supplies. Beer barrels? Not exactly top priority.

That’s when the Royal Air Force got creative. Spitfire mechanics and pilots worked together to modify the pylons, the same racks that usually carried bombs or fuel tanks, so they could hold beer kegs instead. Imagine that: sleek fighter planes roaring across the Channel, not with explosives, but with liquid courage slung under their wings.

And here’s the best part. Flying at high altitudes meant the air was freezing cold. By the time those kegs reached the troops, the beer was perfectly chilled. It wasn’t just a drink, it was a taste of home, a reminder of what they were fighting for, and a cheeky act of ingenuity that blended engineering with humanity.

Did you know Pine City had a brewery before? It closed in 1915 due to prohibition. One clever guy even piped beer directly from the brewery into his house! Brilliant, right?

In 1814, a catastrophic flood of beer swept through a London neighborhood, leaving a trail of destruction and tragedy. A massive brewery vat ruptured, sending a 15-foot wave of dark beer into the streets. The disaster claimed eight lives and destroyed homes, yet was bizarrely ruled an 'Act of God.'
