Winter officially begins at 9:03 am on Sunday.

The end of December and early January will be awfully mild/timid when it comes to winter weather.

I must tell you, daylight starts to increase in 4 days.

I was told from the click and share pages that December will not warm up and it's Arctic doom until further notice.

It's gonna rain tomorrow and we may only have snow piles left by Christmas.

GFS AI ensembles (AI and Hybrid) point to temps running +10° for Christmas Day/evening.

Our time in the frozen tundra is over! We just spent 482 continuous hours below freezing, darn we couldn't get to 500!

As cold as it has been to start this December - nowhere near the top 3 coldest starts.

Finally we get above freezing today, but it has been cold start to December with an average temperature of only 12.1 degrees! Imagine an average temp of only 6.1 degrees through the first 15 days of the month

This was posted 6 days ago. We have rain in the forecast for Thursday.

Whether you want to admit it or not, meteorology is a crazy cool science.

We can be below freezing for nearly 500 hours (just under 3 weeks) in a row and say the day before that today will break that stretch.

And it happens.

Not a perfect science - but far from the stereotypes.

Looks like we barely hang onto our snowpack through Christmas based on latest GFS snow depth forecasts.

At noon on November 26th, Green Bay dropped to 31 degrees.

Since then, the temperature has stayed below freezing for 468 continuous hours as of midnight tonight (and counting).

I see around 16 more hours below freezing for December 16th so that would make 484 continuous hours below freezing.

We should warm to 33/34 degrees around 4pm Tuesday.

Even though it has been snowy and cold recently, this has been great for the early season ski season as mountains have been able to pack down a pretty good base! Get out there!
