SPRINGFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) -- Governor Healey has nominated the chief appellate attorney from the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, Thomas Townsend, to become a Superior Court judge. A local confirmation hearing is set for July 31st at the Western New England Law School with a hearing by the Governor’s Council following on August 6th.

AMHERST, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) -- DESE, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education found Amherst Regional High School to be short 95 learning hours in the 2024-2025 school year, after a complaint was made that the school counted it’s “flex block” as part of its learning time and miscounted early dismissals. Superintendent Dr. E Xiomara Herman has made a statement to say the district will address the discrepancy for the upcoming school year and also ordered a review of the Amherst Regional Middle School's schedule as a precautionary measure.
