If you were on today's HHL and with me in the chat, I mentioned that I'm going to start a common-place book with my A5 Slim. It's that time of year where I get an itch to try something new, and if I'm being totally transparent - I haven't touched ANY of my planners since mid-March. LIFE took me on a rollercoaster ride a few weeks ago that included rest & recovery so I need a "new spark". I'll be back in a few days to share my setup, which notebooks I'm using and how I'm decorating my cover. In the meantime, who wants to join - if that YOU, start thinking about what you want to use.
If you're not familiar with a common-place book, first and foremost... THERE ARE NO RULES!
By definition..."A commonplace book is a personal journal or notebook where you collect and organize various pieces of information, ideas, quotes, and reflections. It's not just a diary but a curated collection of things that interest you or that you want to remember and revisit."
How to Start a Commonplace Book*
* Get a Notebook and Pen: Start simple. You don't need anything fancy to begin. "1) get book 2) get pen 3) write down the thing that caught your attention 4) repeat"
* Collect What Interests You: Your commonplace book can include anything from quotes, recipes, and poems to personal reflections and ideas. "It doesn't have to be deep, it doesn't have to be 'mature'. It's your commonplace notebook, you put things that are interesting to you."
* Use a Pocket Notebook: Carry a small notebook with you to jot down ideas and observations throughout the day. "A useful practice is to carry an inexpensive pocket/mini notebook with you everywhere to record things that capture your attention and might make a good CPB research entries later."
